Chamber Holiday Party Recap
Thank you to the members of of our Membership Task Force for organizing another great Lakewood Chamber of Commerce Holiday Party on December 10th at Sweetwater Landing.

Over 20 Chamber restaurants donated food for the event, Ranger Catering students volunteered as our waiting staff and entertainment was provided by the Peddlers of Mirth, a local caroling group that included chamber members Cindy EInhouse from the Beck Center and Julie & Shawn Warren from Erie Design!

At the end of the evening, we had the $1000 Grand Prize drawing for the 2009 Century Building Club Raffle! Congratulation to Leslie Favre from the Lakewood Community Education and Recreation Department! Thank you  to everyone who bought a ticket to support the Chamber's building fund.
Economic Development Task Force

What role should the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce play in Lakewood's economic development?  That is what the Economic Development Task Force will be focusing on in their strategic planning session scheduled for January 20, 2010 at Noon at the Winking Lizard.  This session will help the group identify economic development projects for 2010-11.

Anyone interested in joining this committee, please contact Patty Ryan at pryan@lakewoodchamber.org or call the office at 216-226-2900.
Education Task Force
"Selling in a Tough Economy"

Educational Task Force announces the first educational seminar of 2010:
Selling in a Tough Economy
Thursday, February 4, 2010
8:00-10:30 am
$15 Members/ $20 Non-members

How do you keep your services relevant to your clients when there isn't that much business out there?  Where do you invest your time and resources?  Diane Helbig of Seize this Day Coaching states, "Many of my clients have realized that they were not selling as much as just taking orders when the economy was booming.  Now the phones aren't ringing, and they're scrambling for business."

Sound familiar?  Diane's presentation, Selling in a Tough Economy, will help you rethink how to sell your product, your services, your business & yourself in tough times.

This same presentation drew standing room only crowds at COSE's Small Business Expo this fall and the Education Task Force is bringing it to Lakewood! RSVP required by January 29.
Legistlative Task Force Will Welcome City Council
The Legislative Task Force will hold a reception at the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce for our Board of Directors and all Lakewood City Council Representatives and Department Directors on January 12th.

Nicole Farley, the Legislative Task Force Chairman, hopes this reception will continue to strengthen the partnership between the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce and City Hall.
Marketing  & Public Relations Task Force
2010 Lakewood Map
The Lakewood Chamber of Commerce offers many affordable marketing opportunities to its members and one of our most popular is advertising on the Lakewood Map!

An ad on the Lakewood Map is an excellent way to reach new customers and great Public Relations.  The map is given out to all new residents and employees in Lakewood and is available for free to residents at various locations through out the city.  We are currently running very low on maps so it's necessary to update and print a 2010 version.

Ad sales will begin this month! Look for more information in your mailbox and via email.
Contact Patty Ryan at pryan@lakewoodchamber.org with any questions.
Membership Task Force
Bring a Guest to the January Meeting

Let's kick off 2010 by growing our membership!  The Membership Task Force is encouraging all members to bring a guest to our January 15th Breakfast at Brennan's Catering & Banquet Center.  Everyone will be able to attend for the $15 member price and participants will receive a small gift for themselves and their guest.

Our topic will be the "Demystifying the Fed", presented by the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland.  This is always a popular meeting and we encourage you to make reservations early.
