Letter from the CEO & President
We have some exciting new events coming up for the month of November!  First up, we are hosting a joint chamber luncheon with our neighbors at the Rocky River Chamber.  Cox Business has generously sponsored nation speaker Richard Yamarone as our speaker.  The economics author will address, "What Should We Watch for Signs of Recovery."  Reservations are required along with your menu choice.

The second event is our new fundraiser; BIDDING, BIDDING, BOUGHT...a "Buy Local" online holiday goods and services auction.  This year, instead of an event that requires you to purchase pricey tickets and don formal attire, we decided to ask you to help us create an online auction that allows residents to bid and buy goods and services donated from local merchants.  Please help by donating an item before November 15.

Details are available in the articles below and feel free to call me with any questions. Thanks in advance for your support of both events!

Holiday Online Auction

The Lakewood Chamber of Commerce presents:
BIDDING...BIDDING...BOUGHT!
A Holiday Goods & Service On-line Auction

Starting on November 15, 2009, the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce will be auctioning off a number of fun and unique items to raise money for our economic development programs, and the more items we have the more money we can raise, so we're asking for your help.

Give a little and get a lot in return.
Whether you have 1 item or 100 to contribute, your participation is an invaluable part of our fundraising efforts. By donating an item or service directly online, you'll be helping to raise money for our organization, and you'll receive a mention on our site that can link back to your own web.  The on-line auction will be open to the public and will promote shopping local with just a click of the mouse!
To donate or become a sponsor, go to our auction homepage at: https://www.cmarket.com/auction/AuctionHome.action?documentId=98349118 or call us at 216-226-2900.

Education Task Force
Have you participated in our online survey?
In an effort to bring you relevant topics that relate to your business, the Educational Task Force will be hosting educational workshops beginning in 2010.  To do this effectively, we need your input.

Please take the time to participate in the survey. The results will determine the topics, frequency, and cost of these workshops. Click the following picture below to take this 2 minute survey.

The Lakewood Chamber of Commerce and The Beck Center for the Arts hosted the 5th Annual West End Halloween Window Walk Awards on Halloween afternoon at the Beck Center for the Arts.  $100 Best of Show prizes were awarded to contestants in 4 age categories and pizza parties from Dewey's Pizza and Donatos Pizza were awarded to the Best Group and Best Family windows.

October October BAHTrick or Tweet "How to Happy Hour" Great Success!
The October 27th Business After Hours at the new Route 6 Cafe had it all!  Beautiful surroundings, delicious food, a great crowd and an interesting speaker.  Diane Helbig of Seize this Day Coaching, gave the crowd a "twittorial"  on how to use TWITTER to improve your companies visability by creating a viral message.

Diane used personal experience and humor to engage the room and demonstrate easy applications anyone can use to tweet.  After Diane finished her power point and answered question, the room buzzed with conversation on how to use tools like TWITTER professionally and effectively.
