Boundless greetings to you during this Fall Season!  Happy Thanksgiving!  This edition will focus on creating a culture of service and engagement in your ministry.  Many ministries are dealing with reduced budgets and headcount.  In tough environments, a positive service culture can encourage all employees and serve to reinvigorate leaders.  Such a place allows every team member to take responsibility for demonstrating outstanding service.  As leaders and staff members put God first with great service, demonstrating God glorifying service becomes real so that Christ shines brightly in a hurting world.

Check out www.HiddenTreasuresMinistry.org to read about the types of programs I deliver for Christian audiences.   This BLOG also provides inspirational nuggets of spiritual insights designed to give you hope and encouragement.

One of the services I offer to ministries is coaching.  People can experience transformational results through the power of questioning.  To enhance my skills, I am  enrolled in the Coaching program at Western Seminary, pursuing a second Masters with an emphasis on coaching.  To find out more about how coaching could be of value to you or your ministry leaders, you can go to http://www.jandwyerbang.com/services/coaching.

News Flashes!

In October, I had the privilege of serving as one of the concurrent session presenters for the Washington State Employees Credit Union's (WSECU) annual meeting.  I was amazed by the positive enthusiasm, employee recognition, and engaged and motivated employees and leaders.  Truly, this is an organization that has been able to create and maintain a highly effective service culture.   What about your organization's service culture?   I have created a new assessment that will help your organization assess your strengths and gaps in your service culture.

This new service assessment will be launched on my website in December and you can go to my website at www.JanDwyerBang.com/Products to find out more information.

I am thrilled to be selected to speak at the 2012 Christian Leadership Alliance Conference in April 2012 in Orlando on the topic of "Get Rid of the Silos:  Strategies to Create a Collaborative Ministry Culture" in the Executive Leadership track.  My article entitled, "A Service Culture: Three Steps to Making Christ Evident in your Ministry" is printed in the Fall 2011, Outcomes Magazine, the Magazine of Christian Leadership Alliance and is featured at http://www.christianleadershipalliance.org/

Cultivating Contentment

How do we maintain our focus on Christ in the midst of changing or challenging circumstances? We can learn a lot about contentment from Paul as he wrote in Philippians 4:10, "I have learned to be content in any circumstance."
  • Contentment needs to be learned.  What an encouragement to remember that the Apostle Paul learned to be content. If contentment did not come naturally for an incredible man of God like the Apostle Paul, it certainly will not come naturally to us.
  • Contentment is a choice.  We have a choice to be content.  It is a matter of changing our perceptive, or rather asking the Holy Spirit to help us see the circumstances or matter from His point of view, not ours.  And since God's mercies are new every morning, every day we can ask for His help as we face what the day brings us.
  • Contentment is contagious.  We never know who is watching us when we are leading a ministry team meeting, communicating to a staff member, negotiating budgets with another department leader.  Our ability to stay strong in Christ and not allow our moods to go up and down with our emotions can have a lasting effect on those around us.   People can "catch" our contentment by our countenance, vocal tone, and body language.  Ask yourself  - is your attitude worth catching?
Cultivating Contentment is one of the speaking topics that I share with ministry groups and at women retreats - you can get more information by clicking on http://www.hiddentreasuresministry.org/speaking-topics/

 Boundless Boosters for your Ministry

What do kangaroos and successful people have in common?  Neither can go backwards.  Sure we all have our moments, hours, even days when things seem to be going backwards - whether it is a rejection from one of our best customers, a communication misunderstanding that is causing havoc in our relationship, or a bad ministry decision.  But we always have the choice to move forward.

Here is one "boundless booster" designed to leap you forward in your life and in this new year:

Jan Business PhotoBe Grateful -

What are you most grateful for this past year? What ministry donors are you particularly grateful for? What about your staff members?  How long has it been since you thanked them for their service to the ministry and to you?  And how about outside of the workplace?  How long has it been since you've thanked your family and friends?  Though we are past October, "Pastor Appreciation" month - it is never too late to thank those who are shepherds in your church - who give tirelessly day in and day out to build the body of Christ.

If you are having trouble thinking of what to be thankful for, take a look at this cartoon:
