Happy new year to you!   I wish you the most boundless of years - rich in relationships and productive in terms of your work lives - and most of all - fruitful in terms of your own ministry.  It is exciting to look forward to a new year -where we have countless opportunities to love God and love others.  Regardless how 2009 was for you, isn't it encouraging to know that God's mercies are new every morning - great is thy faithfulness!  (Lamentations 3:23).

As we reflect upon the New Year, God also encourages us to "consider our ways" - so this is a great time to ask yourself some questions:

  • How did you see God work this past year?
  • What ways did He surprise you?
  • What ways did you surprise yourself?
  • How has your relationship with Him changed?
  • What did you learn about your ministry this past year?
  • What did you discover about your team?
  • How did God enable you and your ministry team to accomplish God sized goals?

This edition is dedicated to providing you some practical ways to set yourself up for ministry and personal success in the new year.

I am thrilled to share that I have launched my NEW website - complete with my new logo and name!  Check it out at  www.JanDwyerBang.com

And check out my new BLOG at www.BoundlessResults.com

What do you have faith in?

For me, as many of you know, this last year was a year filled with miracles!  In April, I was engaged to a wonderful man, John Bang, and for the next six months we planned for our wedding and two reception celebrations. On October 10th, we were married in Auburn, Washington at Grace Community Church. In November, we had another reception in Long Beach, California.  We feel very blessed by God!  (To view a 5 minute video of the wedding taken from my new sister-in-law's cell phone, click here - Jan & John's Big Day 101009

Professionally, my new logo and website launched (check it out at www.JanDwyerBang.com) and although I have a new look and last name, my business philosophy remains the same: Creating boundless results for teams, managers, and staff members in their communications, relationships, and service.

But perhaps like you, this past year has been a challenging time for your ministry.  In uncertain times, it is easy to struggle with the age-old dilemma - In whom are we placing our faith?  Interestingly enough, I just picked up the book Approval Addiction - Overcoming Your Need to Please Everyone by Joyce Meyer, and I loved what Joyce says about our choice to either live in faith or live in fear.  "Fear is simply faith in what Satan says.  We must remember that not only does God speak to us but Satan also speaks. He is a liar and when we believe his lies, we are deceived and the door is open for him to work in our lives.  We open the door for God to work by placing faith in His Word."

May we be encouraged by a few truths from God's Word:

  • And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19 - Amplified Bible)
  • Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the (action of His) power that is at work within us, is able to (carry out His purpose and) do super abundantly, far over and above all that we (dare) ask or think (infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams) Ephesians 3:20- Amplified Bible)

And though we may be tempted by Satan, in Christ, we are totally secure in His everlasting arms!  Hallelujah!

 Boundless Boosters for your Ministry

What do kangaroos and successful people have in common?  Neither can go backwards.  Sure we all have our moments, hours, even days when things seem to be going backwards - whether it is a rejection from one of our best customers, a communication misunderstanding that is causing havoc in our relationship, or a bad ministry decision.  But we always have the choice to move forward.

Here are three "boundless boosters" designed to leap you forward in your life and in this new year:

Jan Business PhotoNever stop learning -  Learning moments abound don't they? Whether you are reflecting upon what you learned last year or are already experiencing some bumps in 2010, never stop looking at life and circumstances without a learning frame of mind.  If we are constantly learning, we are continually growing and in this type of economy, our ability to learn - about ourselves, from those around us, from books we read, from our mentors or bosses, or teammates, even from our customers, can enable us to achieve our goals.

How do you make this point practical in your ministry?  Incorporate a time of learning in your next team meeting.  When a mistake happens, focus on the learning points.  Encourage learning at every level of your ministry.

Jan Business PhotoGet away and plan - My husband and I plan to get away to hold a retreat - away from emails and phones and the list of daily activities. Our plan is to reflect on the previous year and plan as a couple, this new year. We will focus on hearing from the Lord as a couple and plan big picture goals that we feel God calling us -both individually and in our relationship.  Carving out time for a retreat away from your computer and phones and taking the time to sit and pray is the ideal opportunity to plan.  Indeed, it is too easy to get caught up in "life" and not make the time to plan.

How do you make this point practical in your ministry?  Get away by yourself and with God for an extended time period. Sometimes a half-day retreat is just what you need to listen to God and get the rest you need.  Perhaps you can plan for a team retreat for your ministry.  Focus on relationship building and making sure every team member is clear on the goals.  I am a distributor of communication style assessments with Inscape Publishing and have helped many ministry teams achieve understanding about themselves and their team mates. Go to my website at www.JanDwyerBang.com and click on Inscape Publishing products to obtain a listing of all the products available to you and your team.

Jan Business PhotoCreate goals in several categories in your life - When you plan, think about your life in several "buckets" or "categories."  We may have ministry and career goals, but I suggest including personal goals, such as exercise, nutrition, relationships, and all those things that can nourish us spiritually and emotionally.  Our ability to get continually refreshed and rejuvenated will equip us with what we need to be able to achieve what we want out of our lives.

How do you make this point practical in your ministry?  Ensure your team goals are aligned with your ministry goals and that every team member is aware of how they positively impact these goals.  Also think about your life individually. Are you aware of what God may be telling you in terms of your personal life goals?  What areas is He stretching you? What is He speaking to you about?
