Here's to a healthy, happy, and successful new year in your own quest to achieve boundless results in your personal and professional lives.  I am delighted that you have decided to take major leaps forward by investing in your personal and professional development.

This first edition will focus on goal setting and goal achieving - a practical skill set that has far-reaching implications in whatever business or life stage you are in.

One of my goals is to create more space in my life and create systems and processes to streamline my business and get and stay organized!  A helpful resource that I have used is Julie Morgenstern's book, Time Management from the Inside Out: The Foolproof System for Taking Control of your Schedule - and Your Life.

Most of us find achieving goals easier when they are aligned with who we are and what we love to do.   I am a featured author in the book Real World Career Development Strategies that Work where I have written a chapter on passion. This resource is chocked-full of other career-related strategies designed to make your work life personally fulfilling and productive.

Happy 2007!

Goals and Accountability

Since this edition of my ezine focuses on goals, I decided to share with you some key goals and strategies that I have implemented in my own business. I trust these will help you:

Clear the clutter. Some of us have clutter in our minds, clutter in our relationships, and clutter in our offices. Strive to "clear the clutter" to create space in your lives.  How do you do that? One of the ways that I have cleared/am clearing the clutter in my office space is to begin with my end goal - to create a work space that will make me the most productive and fulfilled.  By rearranging some furniture, going through old files, and clearing out all email, I am "making space" for the new business that this year will give me.  Create space in your life and clear up the clutter going on in your minds, by scheduling retreats where you can rejuvenate spiritually, emotionally, and professionally.    For those who speak at women retreats, many campgrounds offer "free" cabins for speakers - all you have to do is ask.

Cultivate your passion - Once you have found your passion - that underlying cluster of activities that give you joy and enthusiasm in your life - it is important to cultivate it. Are you continually honing those skills, talents and interests by intentionally learning and growing? Are you able to carve out the time so that you can do what you love to do?  Whether your passion is in your work life, or outside of work, you need to cultivate it or otherwise your talent, as well as you will shrink and be de-energized.  Interested in finding your passion? Click here!

Communicate to others - I'm going to say the "A" word because of the powerful ways accountability has helped me. Those who are able to achieve their goals have people in their lives that they communicate to in an accountability relationship. I currently have a number of accountability partners who help keep me on track and bounding forward: A business coach, two master mind groups, an accountability buddy in North Carolina, two girlfriends who I share with on a monthly basis, and a whole network of support from my friends and family.  It is too easy to do what you've done before but with the accountability and support with those around you, nothing is impossible for you.
Boundless Boosters for your Business

What do kangaroos and successful people have in common?  Both cannot go backwards.  Sure, we all have our moments, hours, even days when things seem to be going backwards - whether it is a rejection from one of our best customers, a communication misunderstanding that is causing havoc in our work groups, a leadership challenge that keeps us up at night. But the difference is that successful people are able to "break through" and learn from what happens to them.  After all, why not get as much out of a "bad situation" as you can?  Yes, it is a fact that kangaroos don't go backwards.  But you don't have to.

Here is one "boundless booster" designed to leap you forward:

Know your worth.  One of my most popular classes is entitled "Assertive Communication: Your Right to be Heard" and the participants engage in a reflection exercise designed to help them discover how various messages they have heard in their lives affects their sense of self-worth.  It is powerful and the stories that people share are heart-breaking.  One of the things that we can do to leap forward in our personal and professional lives is to constantly protect and enhance something that others don't see - but one of the most powerful contributors to our ability to achieve our goals - our self-worth.

 Continue Positive Self-talk

Be aware of negative thoughts and STOP

   Surround yourself with positive people

  Become more physically active

Be healthy   (i.e., sleep; eat right; exercise regularly; and visit the doctor for check-ups.)

Keep a scrap book of positive  memories and accomplishments

  Volunteer and help others

Reward yourself and feel good about it

And remember - Be aware of negative habits and start implementing positive habits for 21 days (It takes 21 days to make a new habit)
