World Day of Prayer - March 2, 2012
|
World Day of Prayer is a global inter-denominational movement of Informed Prayer and Prayerful Action. Christian women of many traditions come together to observe a common day of prayer each year, and who, in many countries, have a continuing relationship in prayer and service.
Through World Day of Prayer, women around the world - affirm their faith in Jesus Christ
- share their hopes and fears, their joys and sorrows, their opportunities and needs.
Through World Day of Prayer, women affirm that prayer and action are inseparable and both have immeasurable influence in the world. Pray today. Pray now. Click here for a prayer card.
A prayer movement begins with one and gathers momentum until March 2012 when the whole world comes together in concerted prayers for Malaysia and for justice around the world.

Coming in timbrel

I'm proud that my friend served on the writing staff of various Mennonite Church and Mennonite World Conference publications," says Carla Marie Rupp in the next issue of timbrel which focuses on Women Who Inspire Us.
Marlene Bogard shares, "As I am inspired by others, I want to breathe in the goodness of their essence in a hopeful attempt to become more like them."
Be sure to read the next issue of timbrel to inspire yourself!
In preparation for the March/April issue of timbrel which focuses on women who have inspired us, consider:

Franklin Conference Sister Care Coordinator Burning Bush, February 2012
The cliché 'opposites attract' is often used when personality differences are noticed in a marriage. Is it factual or is it a myth? I decided to explore online and found no scientific studies have been done to determine a conclusion. What we do know for sure is that generally there will be differences when a male and a female begin a relationship. Do we sit down before marriage and check off a spreadsheet to be sure we have enough differences to be attracted to one another? Probably not.
A part from being different in gender, these two individuals will look at life from different perspectives.

From The Mennonite
| Deliver me from eBay: I needed to return to the mission field to break the hold materialism had on me.
by Esther M. Bailey The Mennonite, February 2012 Downsizing after my husband's death allowed me to exercise my knack for interior design. Although our house on Camelback Mountain in Phoenix. had been well-done, everything remained exactly the same for 30 years. It was time for a fresh start ...

A Prayer for February
by Carol Welty
Carol Welty, Lima, Ohio is a retired elementary school teacher who continues to volunteer in the Lima schools, attends First Mennonite, Bluffton, and sings in the Lima Symphony Choir.
Loving God,
in the midst of these sometimes troubled times,
give us courage to open our lives
to experience the beauty
in nature,
in relationships,
and in worship.
Help us to acknowledge and embrace our need
for your love and forgiveness
as we observe the wonders of your creation.
May we seek to become better persons
through your abiding love and grace.
May your presence guide us
as we find ways to create the beautiful in all of life
to help make the world a better place.
Amen
