It's So Easy Being Green.

While it's true, Kermit the Frog laments about the difficulties of being green, in reality green is an easy thing to be. With spring waiting just around the corner, step outdoors, take a long deep cleansing breath and look around. If you are lucky enough to live in a part of the world when buds and blooms are starting to strut their stuff, when you explore a bit, you're bound to make an astonishing discovery (well, maybe not astonishing like on the level of nanotechnology...but you know what I'm saying). Green, my friends, is a neutral color. Yes, a neutral color that goes with any and allSea Glass & Freshwater Pearl Bracelet colors of the rainbow. Okay, let's up it to the test.

Daffodils - green works with yellow, whites, and peaches. Hyacinths - green looks lovely with purple, lavender, white and pink. Lilies - green complements the brightest of yellows, orange and fuschia pink. And, surprising green looks pretty darn good with red. No, I am not looking at my holiday tree - but thinking ahead about the glorious red berries that will spring to life following the fragrant blossoms on the hawthorn tree out back, all mixing it up with the brilliant green leaves.

Green Aventurine and Crystal Quartz NecklaceSo, come on Tanya, what's the point? When it comes to jewelry (and you know it always does) lo and behold, Mother Nature gives us a bevy of green stones to choose from - jades, jaspers, prehnite, seraphinite, and malachite just to name a few. While I must admit I am not a big fan of wearing green clothing, I love donning jewelry that shows off the splendor of green gemstones and sparkling complementary Czech glass beads. To me, green is soothing and serene and it brings me to a special place. Oh, and it is the color of money!! Did I just break the magic of the moment? I hope not.

To whet your whistle, here are just a few green beauties to ponder. Hopefully you'll want to check out all of the green lovelies and their friends on my site. Put any one of these pieces around your neck or wrist (but please don't try to put a bracelet around your neck...that's just not right) and there you are - let's say it together -- "hello spring.
Flourite and Swarovski Crystal "Charm" Sterling Silver Bracelet

Flourite & Freshwater Pearl BraceletWhen I first saw these Japanese glass seed beads, my heart skipped a beat. I know, I know, maybe a bit theatrical...but sometimes that's how it is. The verdant colors of the rainforest popped to mind immediately. Combined with the Czech glass givre green beads, Swarovski crystals and the natural flourite gemstones that dangle as charms -- it's just peaceful and serene. Sterling silver hammered bead caps blend nicely with the natural nuggets of flourite. The fact that it just rolls on and off makes it even more so. No hassles -- love that.
Green Mist Jasper & Freshwater Pearl 3-Strand Bracelet

Green Mist Jasper Freshwater Pearl Gold Vermeil BraceletI bought these stones as green mist jasper in Tucson earlier in the year. This is the first chance I've had to work with them since then. Under the glass they are so interesting - they have the rolling ball look that you find in rhyolite. Lovely, really lovely. (Did I just quote Bridget Jones?) I partnered them with green baroque ringed freshwater pearls, an interesting contrast to the jasper, I think. And to spark it all, I added Czech glass in a baroque nugget shape and a highly faceted and very glittery round bead. You know me...I love the unexpected...in jewelry, that is!
Green Jade, Crystal Quartz, Freshwater Pearl Sterling Silver Bracelet

Green Jade & Freshwater Pearl Sterling BraceletDeep, cool, soothing green jade. Just when you think it can't get much better, you team the smooth jade gemstones with natural clear crystal quartz that looks like melting ice chunks, green baroque ringed freshwater pearls and Czech glass "givre" glass beads and you can almost feel yourself sinking into a deep relaxing state. Gosh, I forgot my mantra at the moment...but I am zoning none the less. Three strands of beauty - oh, with all the deep breathing, I forgot to mention the bold puffy square pillows of brushed sterling silver.

Kazuri Spearmint-Gold Bead & Prehnite Bracelet

Spearmint with Gold Kazuri BraceletThe softness of this Kazuri bead captured me when I first saw it. And, I must say, it is lovelier than I thought it would be in the finished bracelet. Mixed with the glow of freshwater pearls, the crisp sparkle of the finest-quality faceted fire-polished Czech glass beads and natural prehnite polished nuggets, it makes a quiet urban tribal statement and a mixed metals bold impression all at the same time. Strange how that happens. And, remember, there is a wonderful group of women behind the Kazuri bead. You can click here to learn more about them. There is a prehnite necklace that would make a fun date for this bracelet on the site (#0287).

Green Aventurine Bracelet

Green Aventurine Crystal Quartz Bold BraceletSimple in its design, the natural green color of this aventurine is calming - connecting me directly to nature, perhaps. These are large gemstone rondelles and Czech fire-polished highly faceted rondelles and rounds. There is a special natural glow that comes from aventurine; you could use these as gazing balls, just not while driving, please. Layer it or wear it alone -- either way, it's just wonderful. There are several green aventurine necklaces in the collection that look really pretty with this bracelet (#0289 and #0288).

As I wind down, I've noticed a couple common threads running through the content - peaceful, serene, calming and soft - all words I've used to describe the pieces highlighted. I do think it has to do with the wonderful colors of green, soft yet vibrant at the same time, and how they play with other components in these designs. I do hope that you feel the same way when you wear them. I can't wait to hear and see.
