I'm very excited to announce the opening of Abandon at LaMama ETC this week. It's a multi-media theatrical production written and directed by Obie-award winner Matthew Maguire, with a 70 minute musical score by me and video design by Zbigniew Bzymek.

The work emerged from 75 collages created by Maguire and the story is told through motion, music, dialog, video, lighting and the surreal juxtaposition of all these elements. It's all rather dreamlike, compelling and hypnotic and has been a joy to work in and on.

Some of you know Maguire in his role as head of theater at Fordham University at Lincoln Center. I met him by way of adding music to the previously written "The Tower" for Son of Semele Ensemble's 2005 award-winning production in Los Angeles. What's really surprising and interesting is how he has used collage to create this and all his works.

Abandon opens at LaMamaETC

October 19 through Nov 5, 2006.
Thursdays through Sundays with afternoon and evening shows on Sunday.
Starring Jeff Barry, Victoire Charles, Alexis McGuinness, Genevieve Odabe, Richard Prioleau, and Michael Ryan, ABANDON features scenic design by Michael Casselli, lighting design by Laura Mroczkowski and costume design by Yuki Kawahisa. Stage Manager is Cassey Kikuchi Kivnick.

I hope some of you can make it. It's some of my best work ever and promises to be a buffet for the senses.
