Breathe. Take a deep breath right now. I know how it is. Your shoulders are up by your ears and you are breathing shallow, rapid breaths. You are stressed. You are sitting at your computer and your neck and upper back hurts. Take a mini-vacation and close your eyes and breathe deeply into your belly, expand your whole upper body with air in your abdomen and then let it deflate like a balloon. Relax your shoulders. Be in this moment.

Is "Honesty the Key to Fidelity"?
Research varies in the study of infidelity. When researchers send out questionnaires asking men and women if they have ever cheated, men seem to brag about their supposed infidelities. But women minimize, lie and cover up their affairs. Social anthropologist Helen Fisher says this is for a good reason - women have traditionally suffered more than men from the revelation of infidelity. Women can lose their children, their financial support and even risk domestic violence as a result. Almost half of those in committed relationships cheat at some point. And a staggering 98% of people have fantasies of people other than their mate.

Integrating Sex and Couple Therapy: A Clinical Exploration

This workshop will assist couple and family therapists and psychotherapists in integrating sexuality counseling into their work with couples of all sexual orientations, utilizing a systemic framework. The sex life for couples throughout the lifespan of a relationship can include a wide range of positive integration as well as physical and emotional dysfunction. Many times working on the sex life of a couple can mean dramatic change in the rest of their lives. Issues around sex addiction, Internet and pornography use, affairs and infidelity and open marriage will be addressed. This workshop will include direct interventions to facilitate erotic recovery and a deeper, more rewarding intimacy and connection.

Is it cheating if it is only online? Some experts say "yes."
"Online emotional affairs are just affairs that have not become sexual yet..." said Peggy Vaughan, infidelity expert and author of The Monogamy Myth.
Emotional affairs often start on the internet and then develop into sexual relationships quickly. Vaughan says that her research shows that 56% of online affairs moved into real time contact within one week.
Shirley Glass, author of Not Just Friends, found that 82% of people who cheated were friends with their lover first.

Getting Your Sex Life Back in Gear
I was interviewed on YourTango about how to help couples improve their sex life by talking about it.
"Is it just a natural part of getting older together that our sex life is going the way of the Dodo?" asked Brenda and Simon. "We really care for each other, but on the rare times it happens, sex is pretty dull."
Tammy Nelson made quite a stir in 2008 with her book Getting the Sex You Want in which she applied Imago Relationship Therapy to restoring the love lives of couples like Simon and Brenda. "Sometimes couples wonder if their marriage is simply past its expiration date" she told me. "They are asking whether it's time to trade in their partner for a new model."
