Greetings!
Welcome to our July newsletter. This month we celebrate our country and the freedoms we are afforded. Freedom isn't free so be sure to thank God for the freedom to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. We pray that as you read this month's newsletter are encouraged to live a more abundant life in Christ. |

From the Bishop
STAYING FREE TO WORSHIP

Since July is typically one of the hottest months of the year images of air-conditioning, ice cream, beachfronts and summer vacation may immediately come to mind when we think of this hot summer month. However we would be amiss if in our consideration of the month of July, we do not pause to reflect on and celebrate the Birthday of the United States of America on July 4th.
Our country has gone through many things since 1776, some good and some not so good. Despite all that has transpired in this country it is still by far the greatest country in the world. Now what makes our country so great you might ask? Some would say our freedoms, others might say our wealth, and yet others would state our education system or even our great military. All of these things are great attributes, however I believe our greatest strength is our freedom to serve God without fear of persecution. This freedom allows us as people to serve our God in every state the way we believe we should serve him. This year we must not take this freedom for granted.
Every freedom we enjoy is under attack and we need not say it could never happen here. Make sure it does not by challenging our political leaders and getting out and voting. As Americans we owe it to all of the forefathers who paid a great price for our freedoms to ensure we do not lose these rights by being complacent. Notice I have not made any mention of any particular affiliation with blue states or red states, but I am referring to the URGENT state of affairs in our country.
Religious freedom in our country is coming against greater and greater attack -- no crosses (a very strong symbol of our faith) can be displayed publicly, no public prayer in Jesus' name is allowed; soon even the Christ in Christmas will completely disappear. Let's not sit back and let this happen as we did when prayer was taken out of the schools. Let's take a stand for Christian beliefs in the upcoming elections. Make sure you cast your vote.

Evangelizing For Life
Sharing Christ
Elder Michael L. Sessoms, Life Outreach Ministry Executive Director

Sharing Christ is about being real and demonstrating our faith with conviction and sincerity. God's call from Scripture is clear. Evangelism is not about catchy slogans, poster boards, tables, tracts, or formulas (although these can be helpful), and it is definitely not arguments and/or confrontations. Rather, it is helping others see Him by how we treat them and live for Him. Evangelism is allowing others to picture Christ in us, not our trying to verbalize without showing Him demonstrated in us. We cannot just say a few sentences and move on. We have to nurture and demonstrate, and be considerate and loving. It is our lives telling His story that the Spirit uses to win people, not just our mouths. Our mouths are to further explain Him.
2 Corinthians 5:20-21
20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. (KJV)
We have to have revitalized lives and faith. Our revitalized lives will be the quintessential Christian genre for making His precepts known to others. When we have a revitalized life, we will have the faith, confidence, and boldness to share it with love, care, kindness, and joy because we will have something of real worth to share-and that is what He has done for us!
How to Share your Faith!
A principle fact we must know before we venture out into evangelizing is this-when you ask someone, "would you like to be a Christian?" you are, in fact, saying, "would you like to be like me?" Are you a good "me"? Are you a person others should strive to be like? Be honest! No, this is not really theologically correct; the reality is we are helping people come to Christ. But, they do not know Christ yet; all they know is you and other Christians!
Ways to Share your Faith!
Join The Life Outreach Ministry (LOM) for the Dale City 4th of July Parade @10:00 a.m. We'll be marching, passing out candy and passing out leaflets about NLAMI. We'll meet at the new church site on Minnieville Road @8:00 a.m.

Your Giving Shouldn't Take a Vacation
by Greg Holley Chief Financial Officer
 | | Church Expenses Don't Take Vacations |
But thou shall remember the Lord thy God:
for it is he that giveth thee the power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day. Deuteronomy 8:18
Now that school is out and summer has officially arrived this is the time of year when families take their vacations and weekend trips to take advantage of the beautiful weather. Traditionally, this is also the time of year that church attendance declines. With this decline in attendance a corresponding drop in the level of giving occurs. But did you know you can still give your tithes and offering even though youre not at church?
New Life members have two options to continue giving their tithes and offerings when circumstances prevent them from attending service. You have the option of giving online with a credit or debit card, or enrolling in the automatic draft program. Either option will allow you to continue to be faithful in your giving when youre not at church. If you regularly use a credit card to give to the church then online giving provides you the flexibility to use any computer, anytime, to give. However, if you want peace of mind and like knowing that your giving has already been taken care of then the automatic draft option is just the right thing for you.
Even though you may be on vacation, the church's expenses don't take vacations. Therefore, it is important that our members continue to give when they are away. The finance department has made this possible and made the process very easy to follow. If you would like additional information on either option feel free to stop by the finance office and we will be happy to serve you.

Beginning Sunday, July 1st, there is a box located in the lobby of the church containing cut outs.
On the back of each cut out is a list of school supplies we need as part of the school supply drive.

When you bring back the items, return the card also and your name or the name of your family will be written on the reverse side and displayed as a supporter of this year's Back To School effort. We are asking that all items be returned no later than the first Sunday in August (August 5th).

Financing Your Life

In The End
Brother Marocco Roberts
Business Affairs
I was reading a daily devotional from Our Daily Bread titled "Tempting Outside, Toxic Inside" and the focus was on the long-term effect of our present day choices trying to get us to think ahead because "in the end" what will the result be?
We recently moved into a new home. We knew from the beginning that we would incur a lot of expenses from things that needed to be done and those things we really wanted to do to make the house our own. My wife is an interior designer and I really wanted a complete theater room in the basement. We had a lot of choices to make. One choice was whether we should pay off our van completely or keep the money in an account and maintain the monthly payment; since the interest rate was low.
However, we had to be honest about our historical decisions when faced with a decision like this. In every situation we decided to keep the money and continue to make the monthly payment; since we could afford to. However, later down the road we realized the money we were saving we spent, we still had the debt we did not payoff, and the thing(s) we purchased were less important three months later than they were when we originally justified making the purchase.
We decided to completely pay off the van. We knew eventually we would use that money to fix up the house and then "in the end" we would still have the debt from the van.
There is something to be said about the logic. Some financial planners would say keep the money, the interest rate was low, the payment was manageable, and you would have cash when you need it. However, you have to apply a level of personal satisfaction and previous behavior with some financial decisions. In our case we were happier having a car completely paid off than we were with having the cash. Ultimately, we knew it was only a matter of time before we spent it on other things. Additionally, everything else we paid for in cash. Praise God for giving us the means, wisdom, and patience to save up for this home and do everything within our means.
Apply this personal experience to your own financial decisions and follow these simple rules:
1. Financially plan for what you want to purchase so using credit will not be necessary.
2. Consider your previous behavior when making financial decisions; be honest.
3. Think about the future and what the impact of your decisions will be "In the end"

Summer Dress Code
The summer months and stifling temperatures are upon us so The Life is "loosening up" a bit. For the summer The Life will give our suits, ties, and jackets a rest and follow a "casual nice" dress code. Please be mindful that although we will have a relaxed dress code, we are still presenting ourselves holy before God in our services. We need to observe Christian standards of modesty and leave the shorts, tanks, revealing clothing, etc. in the drawer.
