HCBB 2011- Bigger, Better, Healthier!

Hello Buy-Back Friends,

It's time to get energized for another great Halloween Candy Buy-Back (or "Give-Back" as some offices do). I have really enjoyed watching this event grow over the years and witnessing all of the goodDr. Kammer it has done for children, dental practices, and the troops overseas who are serving in harm's way. In addition to all of the good we are doing, we are also having lots of fun!!

Make sure Your Office is Registered!

Carolyn Blashek of Operation Gratitude and I decided to clean up our list of participating offices so that we can assure the general public and the media that every office listed is actually holding the event. So we removed everyone from the Halloween Candy Buy-Back site and we are starting a brand new list! So right now go to the home page and put in your zip code and make sure your office is listed if you intend to hold the event. If your office doesn't show up you will need to register it on the home page link.

Brushes for the Troops

How perfect is it this year that instead of a candy goal that we smash every year, we focus on getting toothbrushes to the troops? We still want your candy of course but we are requesting all dental offices also voluntarily send in a minimum of 100 toothbrushes with their candy to Operation Gratitude. We hope that your supply reps will come through for you with a donation. Please tell them about your involvement and get them excited about contributing. Our goal is to send 150,000 toothbrushes to Operation Gratitude so they can put one in each care package. Special thanks to Sunstar Americas Inc. for starting us off with 5100 brushes!

Xylitol for the Kids

How excellent is it that we not only buy the candy back from the children, but we replace some of it with some perfSpryectly healthy xylitol candy? I wholeheartedly believe in the power of xylitol to reduce decay for the entire population so let's see if we can use this event to get it to the kids and educate their families, too. I wrote an article for Dentaltown recently, entitled "I Brush My Teeth With Sugar"! Well, it's true, and I use 100% natural birch sugar which can not be metabolized by decay-causing bacteria. In fact regular use of xylitol makes it almost impossible to get a cavity. You'll be a hero when you educate your Buy-Back families about xylitol. We have two companies offering unheard of incredible special deals so that you can give out samples of deliciously sweet (with no aftertaste!) xylitol candy to your young visitors. Get them hooked on xylitol and they'll be forever healthier!

Xlear, Inc., makers of Spry xylitol products, has made a wonderful offer to our Buy-Back offices. You can introduce your families to xylitol treats for $12 for a box of 225 two-piece individually wrapped packets of gum and $11 for the same size box of mints.

Dr John's Candies has also made a fantastic offer to our Buy-Back offices. Xylitol Assorted Fruit Lollipops (cherry, orange, lemon, lime, grape, blue raspberry and red raspberry) will be available forDr. John's Candies half price.

--Minimum order 5 pounds, approx. 240 pieces, price $22.48
--Maximum order 25 pounds, approx. 1200 pieces, price $112.40  (A 25lb case is five 5lb. bags)
--Orders must be placed in 5 pound increments.

You must be signed up on the Halloween Candy Buy-Back site as a participating office to take advantage of these great offers. Instructions for taking advantage of these deals will be mailed this week only to the offices registered on the HCBB website.

LollipopsI encourage each office to give each child some xylitol gum, mints, and a lollipop on Buy-Back day!
