Just a quick note to update you about our scarf drive for the troops! They're starting to roll in now and we have about a thousand hats and scarves all neatly folded and ready to be put into care packages beginning November 20th. The photo on the right is of a knitting group that delivered some of their lovely scarves to the armory last week.
As delighted as I am to have received many of your hand-made items now,
I implore you to please continue with this project
until the end of November, so we will have plenty of items to put into our December care packages too!
And special thanks to those who are taking a little extra time to include a note and contact address with each of your items. It makes them even more special!!
Please try your hardest to stick as close to
our scarf measurement guidelines as possible. I've got a beautiful blue and white scarf in front of me now that is about 70" long with 5" of fringe on each end! I'll do my best to get it into a care package but it's just too darn big! (Whatever we can't send will be donated to veterans' groups).
5-7" across and no more than 50" long are the safest measurements for our purposes.
