OPERATION GRATITUDE TO RECEIVE KEYS TO JEEP SUV FOR 250,000th PACKAGE AT SHEA STADIUM
AS JEEP, METS & CW11 LAUNCH MASSIVE LETTER WRITING CAMPAIGN
Encino, CA
July 9, 2007
In celebration of Operation Gratitude's shipment of
250,000 care packages to U.S. Service Members
deployed in combat, the Tri-State Jeep Dealer's
Association donated a new Jeep for the recipient of
Operation Gratitude's milestone Quarter-Millionth
package. During a pre-game ceremony at Shea
Stadium on Sunday, July 15th, 2007, a Jeep
representative will deliver the symbolic keys to the
2007 Jeep Patriot Limited to Operation Gratitude for
inclusion in the actual 250,000th package, which will
then be hand-delivered by a U.S. Postal representative
to
the Military Post Office at JFK Airport for shipment
overseas.
In further support of Operation Gratitude's mission to
put a smile on a Service Member's face and express
the appreciation of the American people, Tribune
Broadcasting's CW11/WPIX, the New York Mets, and
Jeep are launching the "2007 Letter Writing
Campaign." One lucky writer's letter will be chosen at
random to be sent to Operation Gratitude's 250,000th
package recipient. The winning letter writer and
the
U.S. Service member who receives the 250,000th
package will each drive home in a brand new 2007
Jeep Patriot Limited.
Letters to U.S. Military members deployed overseas
can be submitted by visiting CW11.com/Jeep. Each
letter written through CW11.com/Jeep will serve as an
entry form to the contest.
"We are proud and humbled to contribute
to a great organization like Operation Gratitude that
does so much good in support of our troops"
remarked Eric Neilsen, President of the New York
Dealer Association. "The Jeep was originally
developed to serve our military and we are very
pleased to be able to continue this tradition in a small
way."
The Letter Writing Campaign will kick-off at Shea
Stadium on Sunday, July 15, 2007 during Military
Appreciation Day, a military themed event to honor
all
U.S. Service Members.
The first 25,000 fans in attendance will receive a Mets
cap, courtesy of Jeep. All fans are encouraged to bring
items which will be collected into a large "care
package" for Operation Gratitude. Acceptable items for
donation are phone cards, DVDs, CDs, Beanie
Babies, disposable cameras, batteries of all sizes,
baseball caps, and sealed lip balm. Stop by Jeep
displays at Gates A, C, or E to drop off.
The Jeep Patriot contest will run through September
17th, culminating in a pre-game ceremony held at
Shea Stadium on September 30th, to announce the
CW11 letter-writer winner and the Troop recipient of
the 2007 Jeep Patriot Limiteds.
Fans interested in purchasing tickets for Military
Appreciation Day can call 718-507-TIXX or log onto
Mets.com or LosMets.com.
