It's March and not quite green outside yet, but we have plenty of green inside Wellesley Booksmith. In celebration of St. Patrick's Day, Lorna, our fabulous book buyer, has put together a great display of books to celebrate the luck o' the Irish. Whether you are searching for a recipe for Irish stew, a great Irish author (Colm Toibin for example), or a few shamrock Gel Gems to stick on the window, it's all together at the front of the store. So grab a four-leaf clover good luck charm, a green beer, and a good book and have a Happy St. Patrick's Day!
This Saturday, don't miss your chance to meet Kelly Corrigan, author of the best-selling, heart-warming memoir The Middle Place. Kelly will be at the Weston Public Library on Saturday, March 6th to talk about her new book Lift, a tiny but powerful meditation on parenting and the love that will keep you fighting longer and harder than you ever thought possible.

Anne Frank: Her Life in Words & Pictures
Wow do I LOVE this book. Deeply affecting and beautifully designed, this is a moving and thoughtful introduction to the life of Anne Frank. The many photos included here of Anne, her family, her diary, and their hiding place give this account a great deal of immediacy and allow Anne's bright personality to shine through.
Ages 10-16 | |

Mr. Darcy and Mr. Bingley (names sound familiar?) made their debut appearance at the store last week. Needless to say, we were all instantly infatuated! They are 8 month-old Coton de Tuléar puppies. It was a challenge to get them to stay still and pose for their picture. I would say they did a great job, though. Love those cute faces! |

1 You help support local author programs
We bring authors to the store, library, and your local schools at no charge, supporting authors and encouraging readers.
2 You embrace what makes us uniqueWe choose the books and gift items we carry based on our first-hand knowledge of your needs and your interests. We carry a wider array of products because we look for those unique titles and gift items you won't find elsewhere. By choosing to support locally owned businesses, you're helping to maintain the diversity and distinctive flavor of your community.
3 You nurture our community
We know you, you know us! Locally owned businesses build strong neighborhoods by sustaining communities, linking neighbors, and donating to community causes at more than twice the rate of chains. Spending locally makes sure your tax dollars are put to work right here. Locally owned businesses create more jobs locally and often provide better wages and benefits than chains do.
4 You help the environment
Local stores help to sustain vibrant, compact, walkable town centers, which are essential to reducing sprawl, automobile use, habitat loss, and air and water pollution. Buying from a local business conserves energy and resources in the form of less fuel for transportation and less packaging.
Thank you for supporting your community independent bookstore!
Sincerely,
