I believe most of you have seen the news by now... Cisco has made a recommended offer to acquire TANDBERG. If the offer is approved by shareholders and regulatory agencies, it is expected to close in mid 2010. In the meantime, it's business as usual. TANDBERG very much wants to compete for your business. I believe this move by Cisco validates what industry analysts have said for some time, TANDBERG's technology platform is superior, and our success with a standards compliant approach to video collaboration is reflected in our market share numbers. As they say "Build a better mouse trap and the world will beat a path to your door"! TANDBERG Press Release
Below is from an internal office communication: TANDBERG will continue to serve our customers with excellence and maintain its focus on delivering results. Our business priorities and commitments to customers and employees have not changed, and new product introductions and projects will continue as planned. While this acquisition is an exciting opportunity for both Cisco and TANDBERG, it will require approval from the antitrust authorities in the US, the EU and other jurisdictions. While the antitrust review is taking place, there will be strict legal limits on how Cisco and TANDBERG can engage. Until the close of the acquisition, the respective sales teams need to continue to drive business as usual with their customers and channel partners. Neither company may engage in joint account planning either directly or through partners. The combination of Cisco and TANDBERG capabilities will create and drive interoperability from desktop to immersive, multi-screen telepresence. Concretely, TANDBERG and Cisco TelePresence products will interoperate with other products from vendors including Microsoft, Polycom, LifeSize and Sony. This interoperability will benefit customers and partners, as well as competitors, as it will create greater market demand.
