Greetings!
 | | Dennis Kaiser |
The year ahead is a promising one, and I'm already hearing many positive things from within and outside of L.A. that signal brighter months ahead for those working in public relations. The great news is that communications professionals are in high demand as traditional and new media practitioners, now that the maturation of social media channels has cemented our role, need and value to those we serve. This is true whether one works for an agency, corporation, non-profit, educational organization or public entity.
So as 2012 progresses, PRSA-LA intends to build on the success achieved in 2011 with a steady stream of events, programs, information and opportunities to help you connect, learn and grow as a PR pro. The 2012 Board of Directors is excited about working even harder this year to achieve the very best things for the chapter, its members and the profession.
This year we will continue to work with National PRSA leaders and Western District colleagues to promote programs of value to our nearly 600 L.A. Chapter members. We will also continue to partner with outside organizations, so expect to see more joint efforts with the Hispanic Public Relations Association (HPRA)--such as the State of the State of PR event on February 29--as well as the Entertainment Publicists Professional Society (EPPS), and University of Southern California, among others.
I encourage you to connect with PRSA-LA in new and meaningful ways this year. If you don't know where to start, reach out to me or any one of your 2012 Board members--our email addresses are easy to find on the Chapter website. Any one of us will be glad to help you find a committee that needs extra hands or guide you in meeting other PRSA-LA members.
I'm looking forward to the coming months and am excited to tap the enthusiasm generated last November by one of our most successful PRism Awards Shows ever. I welcome suggestions about what will make membership in PRSA-LA more valuable to you. The organization was created so members could learn from others and become the best public relations practitioners possible. That philosophy will continue to guide us.
Respectfully, Dennis Kaiser, PRSA-LA President dennis@prsala.org
