KNBC Panel Discussion Highlight Video
PRSA-LA's annual TV newsroom event gives PR pros an opportunity to get up close and personal with the individuals who decide if, when and how stories get covered. This year's sold-out newsroom visit, held on March 26th at KNBC in Burbank, featured a refreshingly candid panel discussion with Robert Long (KNBC VP/News Director), Ana Garcia (Anchor/Investigative Reporter), Rebecca Nieto (Producer) and Bonnie Buck (Web Site Managing Editor). The panel kicked-off with a light-hearted introduction by Weathercaster Fritz Coleman, who's also a professional comedian. PRSA-LA extends a special thank you to iPressroom.com for sponsoring the event and producing a highlight video that can be viewed on our chapter Web site.

CSULB Team Selected as Finalist in National PRSSA Bateman Competition
A team of PR students from California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) has been selected as one of the top three teams in the nation in the 2008 PRSA Bateman Case Study Competition.
Established in 1973, the annual competition evaluates the analytical skills, judgement and PR problem-solving abilities of student teams from across the US.

The 2008 competition is sponsored by General Motors, and included entries from 76 PRSSA teams. Each team was judged on how it developed and implemented a public relations campaign for GM's "Safe Kids Buckle Up" program, which educates tweens (kids age 11-14) and parents about vehicle safety. The CSULB team staged a very successful event at a local middle school that featured a series of obstacle courses and emphasized key messages such as "always buckle up" and "it's safer to sit in the back seat."
As one of the top three teams in the nation, the students from CSULB will present their campaign to a panel of judges from GM and PRSA in Detroit on Friday, May 2nd. The team will then be selected for either first, second or third place in the national competition.
