A Tribute and Message on Being Ready...

Recently, the passing of a couple of prominent leaders saddened our industry.

Former PPAI board member and 1997 PPAI Hall of Fame inductee, Gene Cesario, MAS passed away August 2nd.

Janelle Nevins
Senior vice president of Summit Group and member of the PPAI Board of Director's Class of 2007 Janelle Nevins passed away August 9th.

These industry veterans have had a prominent impact on many people's lives and careers. We offer condolences to their families.

Perhaps not so known was Diana Jane Barliant, the wife of popular west coast multi-line rep Nowell Wisch. Diana passed away July 3rd. In his blog post, Lessons Learned This Month Nowell candidly shares what he has been going through.

This issue addresses being prepared which affects both our business lives as well as personal. Fire, earthquakes, floods, technology failures, the loss of spouses and friends can disrupt our business. How prepared are you?

Recently, I learned a bit about being prepared with internet security. The ALL NEW FreePromoTips.com is going live by October and will be secured by Chiros Technology. Everyone should realize how vulnerable they are to having their website hacked. If you want to learn more, talk to the folks at Chiros.

Natural or man-made disasters are also often devastating.
In response, RAC (The Regional Association Council) has launched "15 for the Fund", a Business Recovery Fund to help industry colleagues get back in business. See below.

TRUE CONFESSIONS!
I confess. I'm burnt out. Taking time to go on the "Sail to Success" cruise to the Bahamas seems crazy, but I know this will be a productive time. You STILL can join us on our 4-night Norwegian Cruise Line trip that leaves from Miami September 17th. Life is short. This is going to be an awesome trip that's affordable.  Click here for more information!

Make it a great day!

If Your Business Was Damaged
by a Natural Disaster...
What Would You Do?

These are the questions many of our industry colleagues have had to answer which is why the Regional Association Council's (RAC) Promotional Products Disaster Recovery Foundation's (PPDRF) Business Recovery Fund was re-launched in the Summer of 2011.

Lessons Learned...
A Commentary by Nowell Wisch

Nowell and Diana
When one is recovering from a personal tragedy, there seems to be a very fine line separating healthy recovery from indulgent self-absorption. Frankly, there is a seductive attraction to the attention one gets from friends and colleagues during the grieving period.

Unfortunately, it can morph quickly into a sick feeling of helplessness and an inability to advance beyond the moment
and move toward a better future.

I was grateful that the SAAC Show, an awesome Regional Association event came four weeks after my personal loss. It coincided with my desire to move beyond condolences back to the workspace that I'd neglected for so many months. During the transition, I was acutely aware of deeper issues in play that have meaning to our business and livelihood.
