 A Supplier Nightmare!

Would You Want to Deliver
this Mug to Your Client?

Bad Sanctuary Mug

Our last FreePromoTips e-newsletters addressed the topic of Dependency and Trust. Much of what we share comes from real life situations that our readers can relate to. I couldn't orchestrate a better story to follow up on those important topics.

End users are dependent on Distributors to deliver what they ordered. Distributors are dependent on Suppliers to complete that transaction. We are all dependent on each other!

In this issue, I share my personal horror story that was perhaps the most troubling supplier nightmare in over 20 years in this industry. We also touch on protecting ourselves and our clients by delivering safe products.

One thing I want to share in sharing this supplier story is that it doesn't matter what supplier put me through hell, so please don't ask. What's important is what we all can learn about effective communication, problem resolution and caring about our clients.

THE GREAT SUPPLIER WHO SAVED ME!

In this issue, we want to introduce you to the supplier I met at the SAAC Show who bailed me out of this nightmare. Bill Kerr the COO for 777 Promotional Products, understood my plight and helped me move past this mess. They delivered mugs printed correctly in  a week. I encourage you to get to know this company. See below for more information. Get a FREE sample of their very cool metalized drinkwear that I have not seen anywhere else.

THINK IT CAN'T HAPPEN TO YOU?

How would you like to be a part of delivering unsafe products to your clients? We are privileged to feature some valuable information from PPAI Board Member Candidate, Rick Brenner, CEO of Prime Line. These things have been said before, but I encourage you to hear what Rick has to say.

TODAY IS HAPPY HOUR FRIDAY!

Post whatever you want on our Facebook Wall. The best post our insane team chooses wins an iTunes card. Brought to you by our friends at AIA.

Make it a great day!

"What Matters Most Is
Protecting Your Customer"

Rick Brenner, CEO of Prime LineŽ

Prime Line Rick Brenner Headshot Rick Brenner, CEO of Prime LineŽ and a leading authority on industry product safety issues, contends that distributors should protect their clients' most valuable asset - the logo going on the product - by only selling products that comply with CPSIA limits for lead and phthalates.

Rick
is a candidate for PPAI's Board of Directors, poses these questions to distributors: "If a product is going to be used by children - a general use product that is to be used by all ages - how would it play in the press if it was revealed that the product was full of lead or cadmium or phthalates? What embarrassment could that cause your customer if it became viral or on the web or, heaven forbid, the subject of a Keith Morrison expose on Dateline? Can you imagine the phone call you would get asking how you could have put the company in that position?"

The Mug Order From Hell...

A Commentary by Jeff Solomon, MAS

Angry ManI had a problem resolution situation to deal with...a 288 piece Terracotta Flowerpot mug order with a crooked imprint. This supplier had printed these before without issue.

As with most deals gone wrong there are two sides to every story and I am willing to own my part in what went bad in this situation. One thing I did miss was not noticing when I placed the reorder that this supplier is no longer on our company's Preferred Supplier List. On face value, that isn't necessarily a bad thing. We use many good suppliers that aren't on this list. But perhaps I should have noticed they had been removed from this desirable positioning and questioned why.
