The November 2010 Election is Over...
    Now What?

Freeway Sign_The Future I'm sure many of you are relieved that the election is over.  The barrage of negative ads was driving me crazy.  In California, where I live, it got very ugly, and I'm sure similar campaigns went on all across the country.

To add a lighthearted perspective to campaign insanity, we invite you to enjoy this humorous video produced by director David Zucker from Airplane and Naked Gun fame.  WARNING...this is political, but take it for what it is and please don't be offended.  In California, the quote, "I worked so hard to get that title" was played on TV throughout the election.  Maybe it's just funny to Californians, but in the end, we will be calling Barbara Boxer "Senator" for a while.

    Barbara Boxer

This FreePromoTip issue will not comment positively or negatively on what happened November 2nd.  The results are what they are.  Now the question is, how will this historic election affect our businesses?   The answer will be revealed in the coming months and years.

To address this topic, I wanted to share an article that would touch on the election, which would be relevant to our industry and not be politically biased. Surprisingly, at the time I prepared this issue, I didn't find an abundance of articles that would fit perfectly.  Interestingly, I stumbled on an article from the plastics industry.  Not exactly right on target, but it addresses manufacturing and how the election results could affect business.

There is no question that we are living through a challenging economic season.  How we got to this place or who got us here is not something we will address, but your comments are welcomed at the bottom of the Election Results article.

In this issue, we introduce a new service that many will find useful.  Many of you are jumping on Facebook, but don't really understand how to effectively use this tool.  Conceptinet will give you a FREE consultation and show you how they can build a Custom Fan Page like they did for us.  Check out what they can do for you.

If you had to pick only one trade show to go
to per year, which one would it be and why?

"The Expo would be my first choice. It gives us a kick start for the new year with all new information, items, pricing, etc. The vendors are ready to discuss projects with you and at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center it is a great layout. The Luxor is a nice place to stay and the rates are not bad".

    Election Results Open
    Doors for Manufacturers

      Mike Verespej, Plastics News
Editors Note:  Our goal here is not to create a political discussion, although what happened November 2nd was certainly political.  FreePromoTips tends to address issues from a slightly different perspective.  We felt is would be interesting to do an election follow up from the viewpoint of a non-industry, non-political position.  This article was written November 4th, 2010 and published in Plastics News, a publication the covers the manufacturing of plastics.  While this does not specifically address our industry, it does touch on how the election results may affect business in general.

We invite you to share your thoughts, by commenting
at the end of the article on FreePromoTips.com.

Election 2010It's uncertain what the biggest-ever Republican gains in Congress ultimately will mean for business and manufacturing when it comes to public policy and legislation.

But at least two things are obvious in the aftermath of the mid-term elections Nov. 2 where the Republicans gained 61 seats to convincingly wrest control of the House. by a 240-186 with nine seats still unresolved and also gained at least six Senate seats to narrow the Democratic majority in the Senate to 53-46, with only Alaska undecided. (At the time this article was written.)
