BAR SOAP OR LIQUID SOAP?
|
Those who know me know that my mind works in mysterious ways. When my wife mentioned a few months ago that she thinks I have Attention Deficit Disorder, I thought that was odd. Having taken an online, unscientific test however; I've come to realize that I do in fact, have ADD.
This explains why my thought process is somewhat scattered. I'm OK with it, because it is this same neurotic passion that drives my business endeavors. Knowing this also helps me to understand why I am the way I am. In some cases, that is positive, in other cases, maybe not so much, but I've come to realize that I'm not alone with my ADD. If you have any thoughts on ADD, we welcome your comments.
My crazy mind was wondering recently about the growing shift from bar soap to liquid soap. Keep in mind that I have already stated that I am a bit nuts. What sane person thinks about such things?
My 14-year-old son would never think about using bar soap. It is not part of his culture. I remember the days when I would buy a 6 pack of bar soap, and it would last a long time. Liquid soap is of course brilliant for companies who make it. It's much more expensive and you go through it faster. I confess however, that the Cranberry and Antioxidant Pearls soap we have in our shower now is quite nice. My son likes the "manly" Axe VICE Revitalizing Shower Gel. The times they are a changing!

This question was asked on LinkedIn and has received a significant number of comments: If you had to pick only one trade show to go to per year, which one would it be and why? "For me it is the PPAI Expo in January of every year. More suppliers there than anywhere else. All the top execs and sales people from the suppliers are there. First look at new products to hit the market. Learn more about recognized suppliers you don't generally buy from...thus build new relationships and new sources. Suppliers go all out for this show. You get to learn more about each product, how to sell it, and who may use it. All in all, my advice is if you haven't been to this show you must go to see for your self. Then you will understand." 5 TRENDS THAT WILL SHAPE 2011 By John Jantsch
|

Last year I wrote a piece where I predicted trends for 2010. You can read them here and I must say that I was pretty much spot on with most.
The thing about predictions and small business and I think I've developed a bit of knack for this odd duck is that no matter what trends are reported in the media, small business will always adopt it much slower and in ways that are counter to much of the hype. Small business owners don't care what's cool. They care about what seems practical and what seems obvious - and that's not always what gets the buzz. Here are my predictions along those lines for 2011. Some of these might seem pretty obvious, but again, not in the way small business will adopt them.
