What's REALLY Important?

Happy Family

Summertime is here!
Kids are out of school.  Vacations are being taken.  It's hot in many places and a new season provides an opportunity for reflection.  I bring this up because I'm writing this PromoTip on a flight back from my vacation, so contemplating the topic of getting out of our daily routine is fresh on my mind.

I won't bore you with the details of our island romp.  For those who are my "friend" on Facebook, you saw the pictures.  What you didn't see is how weird I can be.  Being a promotional marketing madman, I pride myself in my ability to "schmooze" for rental car upgrades...using the power of promotional products.  It's amazing what you can get with a few cool travel mugs or t-shirts.  For our annual Hawaii vacation, I always want a convertible...and I always am able to get one without paying an additional fee.  My wife just doesn't get the idea that I like to take FULL advantage of the convertible.  OK...so it rains ALL the time in Hawaii, but who cares, it's just water.

We had a great time, and while it was sad to be leaving paradise, I'm also excited about getting back to what I do.  As much as I enjoy vacation, I also enjoy my real life.  It's not so bad.  I've mentioned before that I've made choices that enable our business to function better in these trying economic times.  For the first time ever, I was able to leave and have quality back up in our company's home office.  My business did not control my life!

The point here is that we need to determine what is truly important in our lives.  It's critical we take time to get away, rest and refocus our mindset occasionally.  Enjoy the blessings you have.  Be thankful for the business that you have developed.

We feature Charlie Johnson frequently in PromoTips, because he has such an amazing, upbeat attitude and shares such positive information.  Here again we offer another great Charlie piece entitled "What Direction Do You Want to Go?"  It fits perfectly with this PromoTip.

In the past we have shared material from sales managers of large distributors and small business owners.  If you've got something of value to share, e-mail me directly and perhaps we will publish it.  Your contributions make PromoTips special!

Happy business building,

What Direction Do You Want to Go?

ChoiceSignWhat do you do when everything around you starts becoming everything you never wanted it to be?

Do you cut bait and move on or believe this change is necessary?

This is a very tough choice, and I assume either option will work out OK. But which path will cause you the least emotional exhaustion?

Why is it so damn hard to swallow your pride sometimes, even when you know deep down that you are wrong? Why do we foolishly stick with one path and constantly struggle to find that feeling of being right? How do you trust someone when you have watched them time and time again say one thing but do another? Why should you expect them to act differently toward you?
