Help Me Understand Please!
I am a networking junkie. I'm involved with networking forums, Plaxo and Linked In and also a member of PPMN, the Promotional Professionals Mentoring Network. My wife got me involved in Facebook, where ultimately my business and ultimately my personal and business worlds have collided. That's OK. We just need to be aware that what we do online is there for all to see. Think through what you post on these sites. As a confessed networking junkie, I understand that social networking has value. Here's where I need help. I just don't get the idea of people following my activities. Many people have sent me the e-mail that lets me know they are following me on Twitter. Facebook has a similar version of asking: What are you doing right now?
Do You REALLY Care What I'm Doing?
Of course I live a very exciting life, but I struggle with the idea that what I do is of interest to anyone. I'm not knocking the idea, I just don't get it. TWEET: "I just got off the phone with a client." Please help me understand more about social networking. We invite your input.
What Social Networking Sites Do You Use? Is Your Face on Facebook? Do You Tweet on Twitter? Are You Linked In?
Happy business building,
Jeff Solomon, MAS, BCF FPT.com

Social Networking: The Five Biggest Mistakes Nichepreneurs™ Make
Over half of all Americans between the ages of 15-34 consider themselves active social networkers.
They regularly visit well-known social networking sites, such as MySpace or Facebook, or log onto specialty social networks, like Ravelry (devoted to the fiber arts) or GroupRecipes (for the foodie set). While industry research tells us that television watching is declining, especially among this age group, social network use is on the rise: average users spend seven to eight hours a week online. This time spent on social networks clearly affects buying decisions. An estimated forty percent of all social networkers say they use social networking sites to learn more about brands or products they like, according to GreenBiz.com, with twenty-eight percent saying they've had a brand or product recommended to them by a friend. The message is clear. Strategic use of social networking can help a company grow. It's an effective use of target marketing, reaching out to one's customers where they are. Click to learn more!
