Fort Bend ISD is a 2010 Texas Education Agency "Recognized" School District, and as the seventh largest school district in Texas, is an outstanding district of choice by the parents of close to 70,000 students. Fort Bend ISD named a National District of Character

  

Fort Bend ISD was selected by the Character Education Partnership (CEP) in Washington, D.C. as the only school district in the nation to be named a winner in the 2011 National Schools of Character (NSOC) program.  Earlier this spring FBISD was named a "Texas" School District of Character and a finalist for the national award.   more ...

The Washington Post Ranked Six Fort Bend ISD Schools as 2011 Top High Schools in the Nation

 

 

The Washington Post ranked Clements, Austin, Kempner, Travis, Dulles and Elkins High Schools as six of the Top 2011 High Schools in the Nation. These schools represent the top 6 percent of all public high schools in the nation. Rankings are determined by a combination of the number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate or Cambridge AICE (Advanced International Certificate of Education) tests given at the schools, compared to the number of graduating seniors.

 

  
  

Fifty FBISD 2011 National Merit Finalists Named

 

Fort Bend ISD has 50 students who have been named finalists in the 2011 National Merit Scholarship Program. To put that number in perspective, the District has one of the highest percentages of National Merit Semifinalists among the larger school districts in Texas.

Four FBISD Students named for the 2011 National Achievement Scholarship Program

  

 

Four Fort Bend ISD students were selected as semifinalists in the 2011 National Achievement Scholarship Program. The students are: Celsea Clark, Demarquin Johnson, and Stephanie Ogwo - Hightower High School, and Onyedikachi Chi-Ukpai - Kempner High School.

Seventeen Hispanic Fort Bend ISD Students receive National Recognition

 

Fort Bend ISD has 17 students who were selected as scholars in the 2010-2011 National Hispanic Recognition Program (NHRP). The 17 high school juniors are among close to 5,000 high school Hispanic juniors selected nationwide by the College Board whose names are submitted to selected colleges and universities. Many of these institutions actively recruit these students and may offer financial support based on the College Board's recognition.   more ...

BestComm2011Fort Bend ISD was named a 2011 "Best Community for Music Education" by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM). The District is recognized for its leadership in providing school-based, music education programs to young people in our community.

Fort Bend ISD's 2010 NCEA Higher Performing Schools Recognized

 

The National Center for Educational Achievement (NCEA), a department of ACT, Inc., recognized Fort Bend ISD for having 10 schools in their district to make the 2010 NCEA Higher Performing Schools List. NCEA's identification of Higher Performing Schools comprises fewer than 10 percent of public schools in the state.   more ... 

 

Ten Outstanding Fort Bend ISD Students selected as U.S. Presidential Scholars Candidates

 

 

Presidential Scholars SealTen Fort Bend ISD students were selected by the United States Department of Education as candidates for the United States Presidential Scholars Program. Each year, up to 141 students are named as Presidential Scholars, one of the Nation's highest honors for high school students. In honoring the Presidential Scholars, the President of the United States symbolically honors all graduating high school seniors of high potential.  more... 

  
  

Mark of Excellence Project National Winners named in Fort Bend ISD

 

Six Fort Bend ISD school music organizations (representing Austin, Clements and Dulles High Schools; and Dulles and Fort Settlement Middle Schools) were named winners in the Mark of Excellence project. The Mark of Excellence is a competition, entered by recordings, in which the top quarter is selected as National Winners, and the second quarter receives Commended Honors. The project consists of the National Wind Band Honors, the National Orchestra Honors, National Choral Honors, and National Jazz Honors. This year, 138 of the finest musical ensembles in the nation entered the competition.   more ... 

  
  

State Awards Fort Bend ISD with 208 Gold Performance Acknowledgements

  

The Texas Education Agency awarded Fort Bend ISD with a total of 208 Gold Performance Acknowledgements (GPA) for 2010. The district received recognition in three categories: Attendance, College-Ready Graduates and Commended Performance: Social Studies. For 2008, FBISD received district recognition in both RHSP (Recommended High School Plan) and Commended Performance in Social Studies. For 2009, the District received recognition in Commended Social Studies. Two hundred and five (205) of the GPA were at a campus level.   more ... 

  
  

Forty-seven (47) Fort Bend ISD Students Selected as 2011 Texas All-State Musicians

 

Forty-seven (47) Fort Bend ISD high school students were selected as Texas All-State Musicians by the Texas Music Educators Association. All-State is the highest honor a Texas music student can receive. Over 1,500 students are selected through a process that began with over 60,000 students from around the state vying for this honor to perform in one of 13 ensembles (bands, orchestras and choirs). more ... 

  
  

Five Fort Bend ISD Schools in Top 10 Children at Risk Ranking Lists

 

2011 Children at RiskChildren at Risk evaluated and ranked 144 high schools, 265 middle schools, and 589 elementary schools in the Greater Houston area. Five Fort Bend ISD schools were recognized in the top 2011 Children at Risk ranking lists. Among them: Walker Station Elementary ranked 1st and Commonwealth Elementary ranked 2nd for Top 10 elementary schools; Fort Settlement Middle School ranked 3rd and Sartartia Middle School ranked no. 7 among Top 10 middle schools; and Clements High School ranked no. 8 for high schools and 3rd for Top high schools in science and mathematics.   more ... 

  
  

Five Fort Bend ISD Schools Recognized as 2010 TBEC Honor Roll Schools

 

 

Clements High School, Fort Settlement Middle School, Sartartia Middle School, Commonwealth Elementary School and Walker Station Elementary School were recognized as 2010 Texas Business and Education Coalition (TBEC) Honor Roll schools. They are among only 254 of Texas schools that were honored this year, representing less than four percent of our state's 8,000 public schools.   more ... 

  
  

District's School Health Advisory Council Received State Award

 

  

The Region XIII Education Service Center and The Texas Education Agency (TEA) selected Fort Bend ISD's School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) to receive the "Characteristics of an Effective School Health Advisory Council" award. The award recognizes school districts that have demonstrated and plan to demonstrate their excellence and effectiveness as a SHAC in enhancing the health of students, staff, and community members within their local school district.   more ...
