The Principal or Vice Principal will call to let you know when report cards are coming home, when parent -teacher conferences are, and when benchmarkmark deadlines are coming up. Please listen to these messages from the school. If you are receiving them, please call the school and let us know.
I.H.S. Marquee
Be sure to catch the messages posted on our electronic marquee located at the entrance to the large parking lot. You'll see information regarding all the diverse and pertinent activities scheduled here at Irvington.
There is information regarding bell schedules, school activities, special announcements, contact information for staff, links to F.U.S.D. teacher web pages, and more. Take the time to view the various sections. You'll be surprised at how much you can learn about Irvington High School and all the programs available to students.

Are You Ready to ShakeOut?
On the third Thursday of October each year, you can join the millions of Californians who will "Drop, Cover, and Hold On" in The Great California ShakeOut, the largest earthquake drill ever!
As described below, major earthquakes may happen where you work, live, or travel in California. The ShakeOut is our chance to practice how to protect ourselves, and for everyone to become prepared. The goal is to prevent disasters from becoming catastroph. Why is a "Drop, Cover, and Hold On" drill important? As with anything, to act quickly you must practice often. You may only have seconds to protect yourself in an earthquake before strong shaking knocks you down, or something falls on you.
- Other preparedness information is online at www.earthquakecountry.org.
- Everyone can participate! Individuals, families, businesses, schools, government agencies, community groups, and other organizations are all invited to register.
- Register now at www.ShakeOut.org
Many faults do not reach the surface, are under the ocean along the coast, or are covered by streets or buildings. No matter where we are in California, we must be prepared!
California is earthquake country!
California experiences earthquakes as large as the 1994 Northridge or 1989 Loma Prieta quakes (or larger) twice each decade, on average.
All areas of California have experienced earthquakes in the past and will do so again in the future. There are hundreds of faults throughout the state that can have large earthquakes.
There is a 50% chance of a magnitude 7.5 or greater earthquake somewhere in California in the next 30 years (www.scec.org/ucerf).
While some areas and certain faults have a higher chance of earthquakes than others, the risk anywhere in California is high when compared to most areas of the country.

PTSA Update
Hello,
We would like to thank the IHS staff, students and community members who have joined PTSA as members and have donated generously to PTSA. This has given us a jump start in planning our activities for the year. Our goals for this year are all inclusiveness, improved communication and higher student involvement. To achive that, we invite you to take active part in PTSA activities by giving your time to it.
Visit our webpage under the Parents tab on Irvington.org for latest PTSA news. Our webpage will continue to give you latest information about PTSA. We also plan to add an 'archives' section which will be a repository of information from past PTSA events and 'general FAQ' section containing useful PTSA information. The design work for these sections is underway and will soon be completed. Stay tuned.
Join our Facebook group- Irvington High School PTSA. It will enable you to communicate with other IHS PTSA members about issues, concerns, suggestions and questions.
For the many projects that we undertake, PTSA is always in need of volunteers. Students can earn service hours by working for PTSA. Please contact ptsa.irvington@gmail.com to sign-up for volunteering.
Thanks, PTSA team 2011-12 |
