Greetings!
October - the month of pumpkins, crisp fall air and maybe the last of the zucchini from the garden. Maybe. For some it's the season of that final yard clean-up and checking to make sure you know where the snow shovels are! I imagine that many of you are starting to get your RV ready for that long drive to where you don't have to worry about the snow shovels and I know all of us are relieved to see those fuel prices coming down just a little, whether we're thinking about driving south, or just driving around hometown.
Here's a little catch-up about the Board Meeting, held Sept. 23,24,26, at the home office in Lindale.
I trust you've received Nancy's prayer chain email regarding the new officers -Nancy Franges, President; Stephanie Conrad, VP; Ed Shuster, Sect.; Mal Wall, Treas. We covet your prayers as we step out in faith in these new positions. It was a good meeting as we addressed a variety of concerns - from the nuts and bolts of ordering/updating the brochures and business cards to the tough issue of the I-Don't-Want-to-Be-GL Syndrome. The New Guys (Jenny and Mal) had a lot of great input and all of us shared what YOU have been sharing with us throughout the year. Watch for the minutes in the December Sowergram for the full report.
Watch out for those Falling Leaves!
In Him,
Stephanie Conrad,
for the Board of Trustees

REUNION NEWS and UPDATES!
Michigan Reunion Report
This year's Michigan Reunion, held at Michindoh on September 19-22, was an unqualified success! With 114 folks in attendance, it seemed to have something for everyone. Thought-provoking devotions, a very successful Auction, an RV maintenance seminar, and the chance to catch up with old friends and meet some new friends are just a few of the highlights of an excellent four days. Watch the Sowergram for the full report, but for now here's an "up close and personal" report from someone who was there. -
We are new to the Sowers group - haven't even done a project yet! The Sowers magazine had information about the Midwest Michigan Reunion. We decided to go and hopefully meet some Sowers that we might be working with. Long story made short, we did go and had a great time. We met a lot of very nice people (over 100 participated at Michindoh). This was a really good way to get some insight into the world of Sowers. A side benefit is learning to play the games that Sowers enjoy - you don't want to miss that! So now we have new friends, some from Canada too, that we hope to work with some time. We wanted others to be encouraged to go to the reunions - meet Sowers, make new friends, learn from their experiences and just have a good time.
Something else really cool - we enjoyed wonderful food at Michindoh and dined in the beautiful room addition that was built by Sowers!
Blessings to all Carl and Darlene Sewell

Texas Reunion Update
Unfortunately, there's not too much to report on here. The Texas Reunion, traditionally held at ALERT in Big Sandy, is still looking for a "Chair-Couple". Woody and Jerry Epp, who have organized this reunion for many years, have offered to mentor the new Head Guys by sharing their years of experience and serving on a committee to help get this Reunion back on track. Contact the Office or Jeri Epp directly if you'd like more information!

Praise our God, all peoples, let the sound of his praise be heard; .... we went through fire and water, but you brought us to a place of abundance.
Psalm 66
This October marks one year since four Sower couples were sitting at the table in the dining hall at Rockin' C Ranch when Henry's cell phone rang out. "There's a fire in the parking lot!" he shouted, startling everyone as they were just finishing lunch.
The men sprang to action, racing out the door, across the pond and up the hill to do what they could to fight the fire in, what turned out to be, our much loved 2007 Montana 3400RL 5th wheel.

As I headed out of the dining hall I took my camera out of my pocket thinking, "whoever's fire that is, they'll probably want pictures!" In retrospect it was a good thing to have. It kept me busy taking pictures as our RV was consumed in flames.
Several days later I checked the time each photo was taken and was aghast to discover only 26 minutes had passed from the first photo to the last: a bare metal frame where the floor of our bedroom had been, and smoldering ashes the entire length of the rest of the vehicle.
The local volunteer fire department arrived at the scene in just eleven minutes, but the intensity of the flames made it impossible for them to save anything. Even though the fire marshal spent hours on site, it was not determined for sure what the cause was.
We tell our story to alert all our Sower friends to, please, have a plan of escape! Remember those fire drills back in grade school? Have a fire drill now! Know which windows are escape windows. Try them out. Know how to release the windows so you can escape......learning how escape windows work, perhaps in the dark, as a room fills with smoke is not the best atmosphere for learning!! Have flashlights nearby in several locations in the RV. Be sure the batteries are charged. Practice leaving your RV in a hurry.
We are thankful no one was hurt. Only "things" were lost. Our motto in life has been, "Hold lightly all things not eternal." We still believe that.
But the blessing in the midst of this horrible scene and for weeks afterwards, was the outpouring of love from our Sower family and the staff of Rockin' C Ranch. We were overwhelmed by your encouragement and generosity. You fed us, clothed us, literally, and loved us through a difficult time. That makes us miss joining you on projects all the more. As many of you know, we are working at Sunbury Christian Camp near Durban, South Africa doing many of the same things we all do as Sowers. We left September 19th and plan to return March 21, 2012. We covet your prayers as we serve our LORD in this new place.
Many blessings,
Dick & Laurel Beem #2840
P.S. If you would like to hear about our ministry while we're in South Africa, shoot us an email and we'll keep you posted. sonbeemld@yahoo.com.
And plan that fire drill today!

Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. None of this going off and doing your own thing. And cultivate thankfulness. Let the Word of Christ-the Message-have the run of the house. Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God! Let every detail in your lives-words, actions, whatever-be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way.
Colossians 3:15-17 The Message
