Has anyone ever heard of JournalJabber? I hadn't, at least not before last week. Now JournalJabber is all I hear anyone talking about........ Ok, not quite, but it is an awesome new radio show from JournalStone featuring Amy, Cambria and Cassie as hosts. There is only one thing in life I know for sure -- those ladies are a little crazy, but they sure do have some fun talking about books, authors and whatever pops into their minds.
You can listen to their show, which airs every Tuesday night at 9PM Eastern time, by clicking this link. Remember; JournalJabber, free books, author interviews, and crazy dialogue.
You really do have to pay attention to see what we're going to do next at this publishing company. Interestingly enough, we don't even know what might pop up on the radar for July!
We do have to mention our $2,000 in 2011 writing contest is over, and big a congratulations goes out to Brett J. Talley for taking home the top prize. His book, That Which Should Not Be, is set to publish in October, 2011. It is an awesome novel. Scroll down to the contest summary to see who the rest of the winners were. There are some really great books in that group being published later this year.
Speaking of new books, Reign of the Nightmare Prince is set to be published July 8, 2011. You have to check out Mike Phillip's debut novel.
We have had a very busy June at JournalStone in that department. Not only did we publish Imperial Hostage and Ghosts of Coronado Bay, we signed several new authors to the JournalStone family.
Please welcome Elizabeth Reuter (Demon of Renaissance Drive), Gregory Bastianelli (Jokers Club), Jack Horne (Ghost Hunt), Jeff Watkins (The Death Cheater), and Martin Bolton and David Pilling (The Best Weapon). You might recognize some of them from the contest........ Be patient, the books will be available very soon.
If you are interested in purchasing some of these books before they are published, head over to Journal-Store.com. We often list the electronic copies for sale 4 to 8 weeks prior to their publication date. We only ask that you please keep in mind these are proof copies. There might still be a typo or two as we are cleaning them up.
If you go to Journal-Store in the month of July and purchase an electronic copy of Shaman's Blood, send your receipt to christophercpayne@journalstone.com. I will mail you a free copy of JournalStone's 2010 Warped Words for FREE. Yes, I said buy the electronic book, Shaman's Blood from Journal-Store.com and you get a free SOFT COVER copy of JournalStone's 2010 Warped Words. You must be on our e-mail distribution list to qualify, but you can be a brand new member, so tell your friends to sign up and buy the book.
Thanks everyone for another awesome month and as always, happy reading.

Amy, Cambria and Cassie will spend an hour every Tuesday evening giving you some insightful tidbits into the latest happenings in the literary world. And if that doesn't enthrall you, just wait until you hear them debating their different opinions.
Author interviews are slated for the show as well; we just have to get it up and running first. Tune in and give them your thoughts, they enjoy hearing the opinions of others.

That Which Should Not Be is the winner of JournalStone's 2011 Horror Writing Contest!
As a student at the mysterious Miskatonic University, Carter Weston is accustomed to the well-known reputation of the school's association in all things occult and supernatural. When Professor Thayerson sends him on a secretive search for a dark and powerful book, he doesn't even blink an eye.
Shortly after Weston reaches the seaside town of Anchorhead, in pursuit of the Incendium Maleficarum - The Inferno of the Witch, he meets a small group of fascinating men in a local tavern. The men share their stories with Weston, until deep into the stormy night; stories which are filled with mysterious creatures and evil. Two particular stories seem to deal directly with the very item which he seeks, proving these men have not met him by chance.
Will Weston find what he's come for, and what could this mean for the fate of the entire world? |

The definition of Paradox:
A seemingly illogical or self-contradictory statement or suggestion, that may, in fact, be very true.

At the start of Awakened, the pulse-pounding eighth installment of the bestselling House of Night series, Zoey has returned, mostly whole, from the Otherworld to her rightful place as High Priestess at the House of Night. Her friends are just glad to have her back, but after losing her human consort, Heath, will Zoey-or her relationship with her super- hot Warrior, Stark-ever be the same? Stevie Rae is drawn even closer to Rephaim, the Raven Mocker with whom she shares a mysterious and powerful Imprint, but he is a dangerous secret that isolates her from her school, her red fledglings, and even her best friends. When the dark threat of Neferet-who is coming closer and closer to achieving her twisted goal of immortality-and Kalona returns, what will it take to keep the House of Night from being lost forever, and what will one desperate girl do to keep her heart from being irreparably broken?
Awakened (House of Night #8)
The series just keep getting better.
I was hooked on House of Night from the first time I read Marked and have been ever since. I've waited for such a long time before I read Awakened, and the feeling of nostalgia resurfaced.
Awakened was fast-paced and all sort of A word put together. |

Blood that can kill a vampire and give its wielder the power over all paranormals. Put me down for two, please!
Tori was once a loner, the whole, "I'm wearing black and stay away from me because I'm moody" kind of loner. She was teased by the popular kids, and she got along better when left to her own devices. One day the popular kids pushed her a bit too far. What happens next shocks Tori and almost leaves her dead.
Days later she wakes up in the hospital, learning that she almost died, and that she may possibly have some sort of blood disease. The good news: she is alive. The doctors can't explain it and do not seem to be overly concerned about her previous condition because it miraculously disappeared. With the accident on the lips of all of the students in her school, the best remedy for Tori is to relocate. She was a social outcast before - this would turn her into a social leper.
Her new school not only provides her with a new outlook on life, but a small group of new friends, and one incredibly hot band geek. This particular band geek doesn't go to her school, but makes guest appearances at the school playing with their band. He's hot, he's hunky, he's mysterious, he's artistic, and he's a vamp. All teenage girls pull out your napkins.....now. Mr. Hunky, Christian, is instantly smitten with Tori, he knows what she is, and knows that any "smitten-ness" is strictly forbidden. |
