President's Note

Greetings!

Welcome to JournalStone's newsletter! As president, I want to thank you for your continued support as our company has grown and developed. We now want to let you know about our latest activities.

We recently re-designed our Web site. Thanks to Linda Lee, the new site is not only sleeker and easier to navigate, but it also reflects our growing personality as a full-fledged, small press publishing company. Additionally, it solidifies our ongoing efforts to publish as many quality horror and science fiction novels as we can during the next year. If you haven't yet seen the re-designed site, please venture over. You will not be disappointed.

The next few months will keep us very busy. We will publish Any Witch Way in April, Alone in the Vast in May/June, and then we are looking forward to a steady stream of horror novels that stem from our recently launched contest. These novels should hit the streets by year's end.

Hold on for the ride. It will be anything but relaxing, and, if we're lucky, all the new novels will have us scared out of our wits.

Sincerely,

Christopher C. Payne

JournalStone President

Asylum Lake

I do love a good horror story, and Asylum Lake fits the bill.  It reels you in while developing the storyline and main character, and then it slams it home with one of the more horrific murder scenes I've read in a long time.  Has anyone seen the twins' hands and feet lately?  Try looking in the kitchen sink - if you have the stomach for it.  The suspense notwithstanding, the book has a multitude of grammatical errors, and the ending left me, as the reader, flipping back through the pages, wondering if I missed the climax.

Let's Team Up!

Are you interested in writing reviews for JournalStone?  Are you interested in having your novel reviewed?  Do you have any news pertaining to the writing industry you would like to share with the community at large?

We currently reach well over 5,000 people and would love to have your input.  Shoot an e-mail to [email protected], and we will do our best to sign you up.  Thanks, and we look forward to having you be a part of our growing community.

oRipper's Row
Ripper's Row is the collaborative effort of Donnie Light and Shawn Weaver.  The two authors take the infamous Jack the Ripper and, of all things, turn him into a hero.  The public-at-large might know Jack as a horribly brutal serial killer, but in reality he is a tortured soul who hunts down vampires and their entourage.  You see, all of Jack's victims are blood-sucking demons and Jack's mission is to purge the Earth of these vile creatures who have robbed him of his one true love.

Draculas

Draculas is the much hyped novel by Blake Crouch, Jack Kilborn, Jeff Strand and F. Paul Wilson.  The four of them collaborated on the novel and incorporated all of their input, so it truly does flow fluidly.  It actually flows about as smoothly as a nice stream of blood from a cut artery, of which there is ample amount.  Blood, that is, as well as severed arteries, I guess.  There is more blood flowing in this novel than all of the Quentin Tarantino movies combined.  In fact, I think more people died in this book than all the other books I have ever read.
