Curriculum:Vocabulary Cartoons workbook (checkout the workbook at http://www.vocabularycartoons.com/home/products/Vocabulary-Cartoons%2C-SAT-Word-Power.html  - Sometimes, Barnes and Nobles has it.)  and www.spellingcity.com  (online spelling and games that Group Solutions will purchase - no cost to you)

Description:Students will learn 2-3 new vocabulary words daily in their Vocabulary Cartoon workbook.  They will also go to the Spelling City website daily to do games and quizzes relating to the weekly vocabulary wordlist.  When students come to class, we will form teams and act out the vocabulary words using our "Box of Cranial Intrigue" (props and costumes).  This is a FUN way to beef up your vocabulary and students who study with Vocabulary Cartoons have learned 72% more words than those who study with a rote memory program and have 90% retention.

Standards:Daily vocabulary cartoons (30%), online spelling games & quizzes (30%), participation in vocabulary charades (30%) and attendance (10%) will make up your grade here.  Whether preparing for SATs or increasing your vocabulary...THIS CLASS IS ALL ABOUT FUN!
