· 10 minutes: 10-point crossword puzzle quiz (crossword puzzle: http://puzzlemaker.discoveryeducation.com/CrissCrossSetupForm.asp ) or a 10 minute review jeopardy game ... on vocabulary pertaining to the previous two weeks of work online.
· 40 minutes: Remaining Time
o Week 1-4: Debate
o Week 5-8: Mock Trial (+ attend the Mock Trial provided by Ventura Courthouse)
o Week 9-16: Either run a small business beginning by selling $5 stocks OR Arrange for 8 guest speakers on economics and $$

Standards: Student must stay consistent with his or her online program. Occasionally, there are paragraphs or essay questions when a student must write a complete paragraph. A complete paragraph shall include a topic sentence and two to four supporting sentences. I will either text or email parents or students if students fall behind. Students must stay current in order to attend class. Realistically, I will check the homework about 3-4 times a week.
Optional: (not sure on this yet - use class funds for this) I am considering offering First Place ($15 gift certificate to Barnes and Nobles), Second Place Certificate ($10 gift certificate to Barnes and Nobles), Third PlaceCertificate ($5 gift certificate to Barnes and Nobles) for the best well-written paragraphs (not long, just thoughtful). I will print my favorite 8 for the end of the 8 weeks that we meet for each semester. Two or three parents will be needed to help make the three selections.
