Curriculum: There is no curriculum used for this class. Recommended books for ideas on activities:
The American Boys Handy Book, by D.C. Beard
The Dangerous Book for Boys, by Hal Iggulden
Both contain all sorts of old-fashioned, all-boy ideas for fun and enrichment.
Materials/Fees: This will depend on what the men leading choose. This will be known before the school year begins.
Description: This class will be fun, hands-on activities geared for boys. Each boy enrolled will need a father or other adult male to commit to leading one Friday during the school year. Each man will define what he wants to teach the boys. In the past all sorts of enriching, fun activities have been taught including automotive repair, construction, hunting and sport skills. Other possibilities include making a bow and arrow, knot tying, navigation, home maintenance, electro-magnetism, making a periscope or catapult. The possibilities are endless.
Standards: Grading is based on attendance, attitude, enthusiastic participation in class, and following the safety rules.
