Materials Fees: dissection materials and books. Students work in pairs and so dissection kit prices will be shared. each readily completed within 2 weeks. We will cover one module per Friday. The class time will focus on performing the labs + 2-3 minute presentations. Topics include: Biological Classifications, Cellular Structure & Functions, Ecosystems, Evolution and more. Course Standards: Students must complete assigned homework for each class; prepare lab sheets ahead of time for assigned experiments; participate in labs during class and complete lab reports by citing observations and conclusions. Bi-Weekly or Weekly presentations (2-3 minutes): Students will be assigned a topic to present/explain on class days. Show completion of On-Your-Own and Study Guides each time. Students will take tests online. Parents will choose whether a student may take it opened book or closed book. Points will be assigned for completion of each category as noted below in red.
FACILITATOR (A): · Would buy dissection kits for all pairs of students · Would manage the materials fees collected · Read the odd-numbered modules and be one step ahead of the kids (only one step) · Pick one or two labs (collect parts) for the odd-numbered modules(try/practice the lab ahead of time) · Assigns students presentations for all classes (phones/emails them to be sure they will be ready) FACILITATOR (B): · Read the even-numbered modules and be one step ahead of the kids (only one step) · Pick one or two labs (collect parts) for the even-numbered modules (try/practice the lab ahead of time) · This teacher keeps in touch with parents and keeps track of the grades that the online grader has provided (creates Progress Report due twice a year) · This teacher assembles the GRADE
lab grade 15% (attitude/helpful, thoroughness, completed lab sheet, neatness, concentrates on project) - 5 points presentations 15%(prepared, has a visual, good eye contact, knowledgeable, interesting) - 5 points the online grade 40% (provided by the grader) checks off the On-Your-Own 15% (just makes sure it is done - doesn't check for details or make corrections) Study Guide 15% (just makes sure it is done - doesn't check for details or make corrections)
