Assistant 1: I am looking for a good solid assistant to help me here and in the Drawing class.

Curriculum: My own

Homework: 2 hours a week for high school 1 for Jr. high  (minimum)

Materials / Fees: You buy your own supplies.

Materials:  StudioWatercolors:  Van Gogh, Grumbacher, Windsor-Newton , Reeves Studio Grade, (please, no substandard quality brands), Ultramarine Blue, Cerulean Blue, Prussian Blue, Hookers Green, or Sap Green, Alizarin Crimson, or Madder Lake, Cadmium Red Hue, Cadmium Yellow Hue , Cadmium Lemon, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber, Ivory Black. Brushes: Watercolor Brushes: Sable or fine synthetic watercolor brushes,  size 8,10, or 12 round brush: and a size ½" or ¾" flat brush for washes. Do not buy a cheap set of brushes, they are a waste of money. Paper: Watercolor Block  Aquarelle Arches 140 lb, 9x12," cold-pressed paper is best, in that your picture stays flat and won't warp, but it is expensive.  A pad of watercolor paper such as  Windsor- Newton, Fabriano or Strathmore 300 series is O.K., but the finished art will not look as smooth. Size 9x12", weight, 90lb. or 140 lb. Sorry to be so technical, but there are so many inferior products on the market, I do not like wasting money.

Description: Students will observe and practice exercises in class and through homework to learn an appreciation of the nature of the watercolor medium. Fun, lively, and accessible, watercolor is a great class, if you like to draw and paint. Homework requirement is 2 hours per week for high school, 1 hour per week for middle school.

Previous experience in drawing and painting is a pre-requisite for this class (know the basics already).

Standards: TBD - Mainly, I will be watching for time spent and improvement.
