Curriculum: Curriculum may include Abeka, Sonlight, Rock club books, etc. To be announced.

Homework: No homework, but keep collection intact.

Materials / Fees: $7 fee. Pay to Teacher "Cheri Garlinger" on first day of class, or place it in "Garlinger" file, downstairs.

Description: Curriculum on Geology and awesome rocks for boys and girls.

Overview of general Geology: Rock cycle, Volcanoes & Ring of Fire, Mt St Helens-a "laboratory" disproving Evolution; types of rocks on Earth and other Planets (Astronauts &Robots), products made from rocks, and where to RockHound for neat rocks (maps/camping directions for parents). Creation science perspective. Teacher Cheri will provide neat rocks for students from her rockhounding this Summer! Students can add whatever rocks they would like to add: students will complete (on various class days) a nicely done rock collection box w/labeling. Films on volcanic eruptions, earthquakes(non-scary). Possible daytime Field trip on non-Group day.

Standards:

1) Meets "General Science", "Geology", or can be counted as an "Elective".

Parents may desire to add additional science hours during week to create a full class/subject. Note: Family or class field trips count for hours, & any work at home on collections counts too.

2) EXTRA opportunity: I can help boys or girls meet Geology badge requirements for a Scout program, Heritage girls,or Keepers Club--just let us know at first class and bring your book requirements for badge.
