Curriculum: Five in a Row

Course Description: Oh the places you can go with a book! Join us as we explore a variety of picture books and spend our class time working on projects related to the books we read. Using the literature based curriculum- Five In A Row, after the teacher reads the book we will incorporate math, science, art, and/or drama into our projects and aim at developing a love of reading in each child. Example: Teacher reads "A Pair of New Clogs" by Masako Matsuno. Then the students try their hand at Japanese calligraphy, make an origami bowl, eat sticky rice with chopsticks out of their origami bowls while discussing the importance of being responsible with the things we have.
