Enabling Devices Videos are Now on TeacherTube!

teachertube

Is YouTube blocked at your school? Then try TeacherTube! TeacherTube is a compilation of open source videos, photos, audio and documents intended for teachers to access for their own use and for classroom incorporation. Launched in March 2007, it seeks "to fill a need for a more educationally focused, safe venue for teachers, schools, and home learners. It is a site to provide anytime, anywhere professional development with teachers teaching teachers."

It looks and operates similarly to YouTube except that the uploaded content is filtered to ensure it is in accordance with the site's purpose. As a result, all teachers should be able to access this resource whereas some are restricted from YouTube. Signup is free and easy.

With TeacherTube, educators can share lessons, tools, methods and other information. Channels allow users to browse specific areas of interest.

So if YouTube is blocked at your school, Enabling Devices' Videos can now be found in the Special Education channel of TeacherTube. To view all of our videos there, go to www.TeacherTube.com and use the search term "enablingdevices" (one word).

John A. Coleman

For 30 years Enabling Devices has worked with the Toy Library team at John A. Coleman School in White Plains, NY. The team consists of speech pathologists, occupational and physical therapists, a special technical supervisor and an adaptable equipment supervisor. Together we strive to design, develop and construct unique devices for specific children with disabilities as well as those to be used by all disabled children. This partnership has been funded by a grant from New York State and has been very rewarding for both parties.
