T
Jax Thanks You!

Jax came from a shelter and had a terribly infected eye. Unfortunately, his eye had to be removed. Jax's other eye had a large ulcer, but with treatment we were able to save it. He is feeling so much better and is always smiling.

We are only $275 from our goal to pay off Jax's medical bills. If you would like to contribute, please go to Jax's ChipIn page. Thank you again for your support.

Thank you to everyone who has donated items from our
Amazon Wish List. We have several new items on our Wish List as well as items from our new Puggerfest Wish List. If you are able, we would be ever grateful for your donation.

Hot Diggity Dog!

NOAA Heat Advisory

As you know, the weather has been extremely hot this summer. Pugs don't have long snouts to help them cool off, so they need special care during the summer months. In weather over 90 degrees do not let them play outside. Running and roughhousing outdoors in the heat can cause your pug to have heat stroke in a matter of minutes. Dogs don't know when to quit, so you have to be the one to tell them. Luckily, pugs are small dogs and you can play fetch indoors to get rid of their extra energy. Here are a few ways to keep your pug cool in this hot weather:

~Buy a kiddie pool for them to splash in while outside. (Just look at the cute photos of swimmin' pugs in the right side column)

~Set out a fan for them to lay in front of.

~If you crate your pug while you are away you can use a crate fan to keep them cool.

~ Kool Collars are a great to keep your pug from overheating.

~Cooling pads are perfect for when your fur kid is lounging around the house on a hot day.

And of course I don't have to tell you to never, ever leave your pug in the car, even with the windows down. I know you all

are smarter than that!

Enjoy the rest of the summer and most of all, stay cool!

Nature's Variety Recall

According to CEO Reed Howlett, on July 12, 2012 Nature's Variety instituted a voluntary recall of its Prairie Beef Meal and Barley Medley Kibble for Dogs. It is not contaminated in any way, however it may develop an unusual odor over time.

Greetings Everyone!

Wow, this weather is crazy hot! Poor Gail's air conditioner died and had to be replaced. Needless to say, the puggies were miserable and Gail needed to find temporary foster homes for them so they wouldn't have to endure the sweltering heat. She would like to thank all of  the kind volunteers who took in her puggies while she was waiting for the repairman. We also want to thank everyone who took part in our Thirty-one fundraiser, it was a great success!

In other news, Gail is in the "freakout" stage of Puggerfest preparations. There is so much to do and so little time! We could certainly use your help during Puggerfest. There are plenty of ways to volunteer, so if you can spare even a few hours, please fill out our volunteer form .

We are still accepting auction items, so if you have anything to donate, please contact Gail at homewardboundpugs@cox.net.

If you would like to sponsor one of our Puggerfest events such as the Kid's Zone, Pug Races or costume contests, please click here .

If you have a special love pug you want to pay tribute to in our Puggerfest program guide, you can submit your story here.

Ad space in the Puggerfest brochure is still available. The back cover of the program guide has been taken, so if you have a business and want to advertise, fill out the form asap.

*The dea
dline for sponsorships, tributes and ads is September 10th.
