We Still Need Your Help

We are raising donations on our ChipIn page for the puppies that were in ICU. The cost of their care in hospital ranged from $1,200 to $1,500 each. Even though the pugs have turned the corner, they still have a long way to go before they are ready for adoption. Besides paying for their initial medical care, they still need all of their puppy shots and spays/neuters.

You can also see what  items we still need for the puppies and purchase them directly through our Amazon Wish List . We added pet beds and a few more items because we would like to send the puppies to their new homes with their own bed and basket of supplies. We also desperately need Pill Pockets. So many of the pugs are on daily medication, and Pill Pockets sure make it easier to get those little stinkers to take their medicine!

Thank you!

  Wellington Duck

You can purchase it here from Homeward Bound supporter Kathy Highfill for $2.50 off or browse the site for warmers and scents.

Thank you!

To all who sent prayers  and told others the story of our plight. We know that the prayers and well wishes from people all around the world helped pull the puppies through!

To Neel Veterinary Hospital
for taking such good care of 20, yes 20 of the rescued pugs. Most had serious health issues including the six puppies with parvovirus. That all of the puppies in their care lived is a testament to the amazing skills and determination of the veterinarians and staff. If the puppies hadn't been in a 24 hour clinic getting the best of care, I am sure we would have lost some. It is such a joy to see all of the pugs play and wrestle like healthy puggies should.

To all of the fantastic fosters
who took these sweet babies into your homes on such short notice. We appreciate the time and effort it takes to care for these special pugs. With your loving care they will be well enough to go to their forever homes soon!

To the wonderful volunteers of PugHearts Houston
for taking 7 of the puppies. It was so good of them to come to our aid when we needed it the most. Here is the story of their trip to pick up the pugs.

To everyone who donated
money or items or purchased supplies through our AMAZON WISHLIST
Unfortunately, Amazon doesn't let us know who bought the Wishlist items. The items come to us anonymously and it is a shame we are not able to thank people personally. If you sent something, please know that we are forever grateful for your generosity and support.

The puppies have felt the love from the West coast to the East coast and all over the world. Your support has been such a blessing and we could not have provided all of these things without each and every one of you!

Neel Veterinary Hospital

Providing loving care to Homeward Bound pugs since 2006

To all of our fabulous supporters,

The outpouring of love, support, prayers, puggie well wishes and kisses these past weeks has been truly overwhelming. The response has been awesome and it is amazing to see how many wonderful people have donated to help with the medical bills of these rescued dogs. People have driven from Tulsa to drop off donations and another adoptee is coming down from Wichita with items for the pugs. I have  received donations from the United Kingdom, Japan, Canada, NY state, WA, RI, WI, TX and several other states. Many of you also purchased items off of our Amazon Wishlist and sent special care packages to these sweet babies.

I have always said pug  people are the best but here is  proof that what I said  is true. So many are giving part of their hearts to these sweet pugs.
THEY ARE NOW THE LUCKIEST PUGS ON THE PLANET!

Again, we thank you for the love and support shown to these innocent little pugs. We know they have felt the love!

Pug hugs,

Gail Tucker

Before
  After
The youngest puppies are all home from ICU after recovering from Parvovirus.  Miranda and Marni are two black girls and they came home first. Tuscon came home a day or two later and Lindsey and Cisco came home a couple of days ago.  Peanut who really is tiny came home Wednesday. They are doing well. Peanut is very under weight right now and honestly we have no idea how he survived. He had the least to fight with and that is why it took a few extra days to get him out. They are playing with lots of their new toys and wrestling with each other. They really need a buddy to play with when they leave. Miranda can climb out of anything and is the reason we need a taller x-pen or two.  They all love to cuddle and be held. Cisco is the busiest but now he likes to be held too.

We will keep them until they are well enough to have their shots, be spayed/neutered and can safely be with a pug pack.

The older puppies

Camelot, Jitter, Vivian, Martini and Yuma are with volunteers in Wichita. So far so good. They are adjusting well, getting some good food and
meat on their bones and starting to play. They are being scheduled for their spays/neuters. None of them like to be alone and have to have another small dog with them.

Stitch, Chantilly, Durango, Misty, Lexi, Daniel, Checkers, Olive, Danny and Jessica are with fosters here. Chantilly had to go to the vet last
night due to vomiting but she seems to be okay today. Jessica is our pregnant girl who continues to get bigger every day. We are concerned, however, that her babies are not developing well. For now, she is resting and being closely monitored.

Most of the pugs who came in have health issues. Some have Demodectic Mange, yeasty skin and missing fur due to poor diet. Several have missing eyes or corneal ulcers. They are all being treated and with proper care and good diet they will be feeling better in no time.

As you can see in these videos, the puppies are feeling so much better and are livin' the good life!

Holy Pupperoni !

Gail came home one afternoon to see the USPS deliveryman hefting dozens of boxes onto her porch. The boxes must have filled the whole truck! Gail fainted from surprise and the poor deliveryman fainted from exhaustion. After they recovered he went on his way, probably to go  take a nap, and Gail set to work trying to find a place to put everything until it could be sorted. All of the goodies including pee pads, blankets, crates and x-pens were divvied up among the fosters and are now being enjoyed by our puppy pals. Thank you all so much!

1000 Pug Photo Shoot

Homeward Bound volunteer Toni Pettigrew took two of our pugs to the 1000 Pug Project that came to Dallas recently:

Said Toni, "We had a great time yesterday taking a couple of Homeward Bound Rescue pugs to the 1000 Pugs photoshoot in Dallas. One of our 32 recently rescued puppies was one of the lucky travelers and HE DID GREAT! Less than 2 weeks ago the future looked bleak for little Danny but now he is going on photoshoots and loving the attention. Our precious Esther went too and she is a such a wonderful dog. She rode in her crate just as easy as you please. She ran and romped at the dog park like she was just a young pup. Moments like these are what make rescue so worthwhile. To see them so carefree and just enjoying life. Oh, how we love these pugs!
"

Thank you, Toni for taking the time to drive all that way to allow our sweet pugs to be featured in this project. Check out our Facebook page for more photos from the shoot.
