Temporary Foster Homes Needed
Would you like to foster a pug for a week? We need temporary foster homes from January 21-28. If you have ever considered fostering but didn't know if it would work for your family, this is a great opportunity to find out! Please contact Gail at homewardboundpugs@cox.net or 405-706-1492 if you can help. Thank you!

* You can fill out the volunteer form right from our Facebook page.

Volunteer Opportunity

Can you spare a few hours on occasion to help Homeward Bound with home visits?

When we receive an application for adoption we visit the home to see if the family, home environment, other dogs, etc. are a good fit for that particular dog. All applications are processed prior to the home visit by one of our volunteers but we need a couple of people in different areas of the state of Oklahoma to help out with the actual home visits. Please let us know if you can help. The quicker we can get everything checked out, the faster the puggie is on their way to a forever home.

  Valentine

An innocent design in snowy white with fluted edges and darling details, Valentine is tied up with pretty polka dot ribbon and accented by a cherry-red heart pendant made of glass. It can be purchased here from Scentsy consultant Kathy Highfill for 10% off, or browse the site for more wonderful warmers and scents!

Did you receive a great new digital camera for Christmas and are wondering what to do with your old one? Please consider donating it to Homeward Bound Pug Rescue of Oklahoma. Not all of our foster homes have access to a digital camera but would love to take photos of the available dogs in their care. A good photo is critical to finding a home for our pugs! Cameras, old laptops (in working condition), video cameras....all of these can be used to help our puggies find forever homes. If you have an item to donate, it can be dropped off at A1 Pet Emporium on May and Britton or you can mail it to: Homeward Bound Pug Rescue, c/o A1 Pet Emporium, 9417 N May Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73120. Thank you!

Providing loving care to Homeward Bound pugs since 2006

Dear friends,

With the tune of Auld Lang Syne still ringing in our ears, we would like to say how much we are looking forward to the new year. We have great meet and greets planned, fun contests and we are already gearing up for the next Puggerfest! Though each new day brings another pug in need, it also brings wonderful people willing to take these sweet pugs into their hearts and homes.

Thank you all for your support, and best wishes to you and yours in the coming year.

Petunia

Petunia was in a Wichita shelter alone and afraid. She tested positive for heartworms and we were asked to take her. When she arrived in Oklahoma we noticed her abdomen was bloated and she couldn't seem to urinate. She also had a metal pin of some sort sticking out of her jaw on the inside. The vets think that at one time she had a broken jaw and the pin worked its way through. Her teeth are terrible and her poor hip is the worst we have seen. She may have had it fractured in the past and will need surgery to help her get around better if she recovers from her current problems. She has been in ICU since Jan. 8th. The vets have done several x-rays and an ultrasound to determine if her heart is strong enough to withstand surgery. Please pray for this sweet senior. She deserves to feel good and have the rest of her life filled with love. She is so very sweet and we are not giving up on her. Her medical bills will be very high, so we would be ever so grateful if you would make a kind donation. Please see below for details.

Watson

Watson is a sweet senior that was in a local shelter. It appears he was just tossed outside to fend for himself. This old boy has one tiny eye and doesn't see that well out of the other one. He is also heartworm positive and has severe skin issues due to lack of care and fleas. His ears were practically closed shut due to yeast infections and his teeth are so bad we need to do a dental right away. He is such a precious old man and only wants a cozy bed, some good food and lots of love to make him happy.

Please consider making a donation to help provide for the care of these sweet pugs. You can
or mail a check made out to Homeward Bound Pug Rescue c/o Gail Tucker 1702 Vanessa Dr., Norman, OK 73071

Thank you!

Flower is a sweet little girl that is between one and two years old. She was in a shelter and very very scared. Although timid at first, she is warming up and loves to cuddle and have her tummy rubbed. She is starting to play a bit and act like a young puggie should act. We are pretty sure she didn't have a very good life but is making up for it now and can't wait to meet her forever family. She is also very petite and will stay small.

Flower started holding her paw up and when we did x-rays it was discovered that she needed a very expensive FHO surgery to keep her mobile and pain free.

Thanks to the kind donations of our supporters, Flower has had her surgery. She is doing well and is able to be the playful puppy she always wanted to be! If you are interested in adopting Flower please fill out an application here.

Happy Tails

Simon and Bug

First, I would like to say how much I admire you all and respect the work that you do.  We have 3 pugs (and 1 poodle!) and two of them we adopted from you about 2 years ago.  (Simon and Bug!)  I know that pugs are extremely sensitive and emotional babies and it kills me to look at your pictures and read the stories sometimes.  I hate the thought of a pug being mistreated, and of course any animal being mistreated.

I am happy to say our pugs are doing fabulous!  We saw a wonderful change in both of them, especially Simon, after a few weeks of getting settled in with us.  Now they rule the roost!

Thank you so very much for what you do!

Sincerely,
Candy McKinney

Pugsley

I wanted to send you a few picures of Puglsey. He and his new brother Drake are getting along great! He is doing really well, jumping up and down from beds, playing, tromping around, etc. We are still working on car rides as he seems a bit unsure of them. But otherwise he has been a fantastic addition to our home!
