Puggerfest Volunteers needed
We need your help to make this year's Puggerfest the best ever.
Stephanie Darden is the volunteer coordinator this year. If you can help for a few hours please contact her. She will have a list of things we need help with. One thing we really, really need are people to help break down the event.

For our out of town guests:
For those wishing to come early and join us for dinner Friday night and/or stay for our pizza party Saturday night, a block of rooms has been reserved at the La Quinta Inn, Airport location, OKC . Please book now to insure you secure a room. Ask for the group sales person and tell him it is for the Puggerfest/Homeward Bound block of rooms. Rooms are under $60 per night for two double beds. They have a really nice courtyard and we will have x-pens set up to contain the pugs when we are outside visiting.

Puggerfest T-shirts
Shirts are $20 each. Those of you who are out of town can purchase them by mail for $20.00 plus $4 shipping. Size 2XL is $22 and 3XL is $23. You can send your payment through homewardboundpugs@cox.net at PayPal or mail a check made out to Homeward Bound Pug Rescue, c/o Gail Tucker 1702 Vanessa Dr., Norman OK 73071. Please specify size. If you are in town please contact Gail Tucker and you can pick the shirts up at A1 Pet Emporium or, if you are staying at the La Quinta Inn Friday night, you can pick them up from Gail.

Activities:
For the furry kiddos:
Contests: Costume contests, Best Trick, Best Kisser, Curliest Tail, and more. This year we have added a prize for best group in costume. There will also be a category for best Mardi Gras costume.
Pug races: Be sure and sign up early at the event. Because of time constraints we can only enter 24 pugs.
For the human kiddos: There will be a coloring contest with prizes, face painting, mask decorating and bandana making for the kids.
For the adults:
Silent Auction: There will be a large silent auction of super items (pug, dog related and more). We will graciously accept any donation of a new item for our auction. We are hoping this year's will be bigger and better than ever. If you
know of a business that might like to donate something, feel free to ask them or let us know and we will send them a donation request.

Puggerfest King and Queen
Do you treat your pugs like royalty? Now is the time to make that a reality! We will be crowning 2 special pugs King and Queen of Puggerfest.
Enter your pug in the drawing for our second annual King and Queen of Puggerfest. Some great gifts will be awarded to our winners. Each winner will receive a basket filled with wonderful items with a retail value over $250. You can enter as many times as you like, each entry will be $1, or six $5. We will draw the names for King and Queen, award the gift baskets and take their photos for you and for future newsletters. |
Raffle tickets are being presold now. Right now we have an Acer Laptop model 5736z, an iPad and a Kindle. This is one raffle you don't want to miss. The raffle is combined, so you will have a better chance to win one of the prizes. Tickets are $5.00 each or 6 for $25.00. You may also buy tickets at the event. The drawing will be held at Puggerfest but you need not be there to win!!! Items will be available for pick up at the event or sent to you if you are out of state or not able take them home the day of the event. If you would like to purchase tickets ahead of time you can mail your check (made out to Homeward Bound Pug Rescue) to Gail Tucker, 1702 Vanessa Dr., Norman, OK 73071. Raffle tickets CANNOT be purchased through PayPal!

Pam Case, Animal Comminicator
We are very excited to once again have Pam Case, a
well known animal communicator. Find out what your pet is really thinking. Having an animal communication will bring you a better understanding of your pet, both past, present and future. Appointments will be scheduled prior to and on the day of Puggerfest. Timed sessions run from 10am to 3 pm and are 15 minutes in length. There is a $20.00 fee. One pug to a session please. There will only be time for 24 sessions so don't get left out! Appointments can be prescheduled by emailing puglvnfool@new.rr.com
50% of the fee is going right to help the pugs at Homeward Bound Pug Rescue, so schedule your time today!

Things to bring:
Chairs, camera, money, pugs, smiles.
Misc: Most of our adoptable pugs will be there for you to meet. Not sure who is who? The adoptable pugs will be wearing scrunchies with a fireworks starburst design and their name on a ribbon. Pugs that have been adopted from us will have mardi gras mask scrunchies. While this is not an adoption event, you can get to know our furry friends in person and if interested you can fill out an adoption application.
There will be a large fenced in area for all of the pugs to play and have fun in with no worry of them getting loose. The park is ours for the day!!
Lunch is available for purchase. Park rules: All pugs attending must be fully vaccinated and leashed to come into the park. We will have a fenced in area for them to run free once inside. *No females in heat * No pugs under 4 months of age admitted unless held. *All proceeds to benefit Homeward Bound's rescue efforts * For more information contact homewardboundpugs@cox.net For more information on all things Puggerfest, go here. It's time for our annual popcorn fundraiser! Hosted by long time friend and supporter Kathy Highfill, the fundraiser runs from September 6th through the 20th and features popcorn from the famous Popcorn Palace.
There are a dozen delicious flavors in several sizes, including gift tins and sample packs. Homeward Bound will receive 50% from the purchase of the snack bag, jar and value bags. We will also receive $11.50 for the Sampler Pack and $22 for the Sampler Tin! We have taken in several dogs in need of medical care recently. Currently there are 8 pugs being treated for heartworm, vet bills from the puppies and Sir Pugsley, who is in need of expensive surgery to fix his luxating patellas. Unfortunately, our adoption fees do not begin to cover the cost of caring for these special needs pugs, so we rely on supporters like yourselves to help us make up the difference. Please do not order from the Popcorn Palace website, as we will not receive any funds from those purchases. |
