Hello Friends!
We had a fantastic time at Live On The Plaza. It was so much fun watching the kids cuddling with the pugs. I think we broke the world record for most smiles that day!
Volunteer Shandell Nash took these great photos
We want to thank everyone who came out to say hello. It was a great turnout and the pugs loved all of the attention. If you couldn't make it out to see us or if you just can't get enough of the puggers, we would love to see you at the Rescue Day and Dog wash this month! See below for more information:

Come see us!
Last year's Rescue Day and Dog Wash was a howling success and this year it will be even better. Drop by and say, "Hi" to Gail and the pugs. Sadly, Gail didn't volunteer for the dunk tank but there will also be dog wash stations, groomers, pet friendly vendors, low cost vaccines and micro-chipping, Big Truck Tacos, local artists and bands, raffles (including a grand prize trip to Mexico), kid friendly activities and last, but certainly not least: The Ice Cream Lady. I'm not sure if the Ice Cream Lady is a sideshow freak or if she just sells ice cream. Guess you will just have to come see for yourself!

King Charles
was in the Wichita Humane Society as a stray. We dont know how anyone would not be looking for this sweet boy. King Charles is around four years old and so very loving. He gets along with everyone, including the other pugs in his foster home. He is ready and eager to start his new life with a family committed to taking care of him and giving him the love he deserves. If you are interested in adopting King Charles, please fill out an application.

Shasta and Mr. Peabody
Shasta and Mr. Peabody had no idea when they were adopted into our family that they would be quite the little pug travelers. We are a military family and recently moved from OKC to Anchorage, Alaska. We drove over two weeks to get here and took the dogs (and kids) to see many great sites along the way. Peabody and Shasta were able to peer over the rim of the Grand Canyon, take a stroll at the Continental Divide, eat at the famous VooDoo Doughnuts in Portland and ride in a ferry boat for three days. They also witnessed -30 degree temperatures in Tok , Alaska and saw a herd of caribou in Canada. Needless to say we all had quite an adventure. When we arrived in Alaska, the temps were in the negatives and neither dog liked to go outdoors. We didn't either. After much coaxing and lots of doggie sweaters and boots, they now go out. Peabody loves the snow. He runs and hops in it right along with the kids. Shasta on the other hand, does her business and comes back in. On occasion she will dig holes in the snow. We still don't know what all of the fuss is about the holes, but we laugh at how vigorous she digs. The other day, Mr. Peabody witnessed a great big moose! Mr. Moose came right up to our living room window and proceeded to eat my bushes out front. Mr. Peabody leaped up into the window sill and barked until Mr. Moose went on his way. We go on weekend drives with the puggies quite often. They love the sites just as much as we do. Yesterday we took them to Girdwood and they saw tiny icebergs floating along the inlet as well as frozen waterfalls and of course the gorgeous mountain ranges. Mr. Peabody and Shasta have generated quite a buzz about pugs in Alaska. We will be forever grateful for Homeward Bound and all of the great people involved with the organization. We tell everyone that we meet about the wonderful opportunities that rescue pets offer. Mr. Peabody and Shasta, although they are far, far from Oklahoma, still love you all.
~With great love and puggie kisses,
Bryan, Christi, Kaitlin, and Candace Barron (Shasta and Mr. Peabody too)

The Journey of Vinny the Kitten
As you know, HWB supporters are an amazing group of people. Amy Fletcher is a HWB angel. Not only has Amy adopted several of our senior and special needs pugs, she fosters for a local animal shelter as well. Amy recently took in a litter of three week old kittens, one of which has an injured paw. Since Amy is such a softie she has decided to adopt Vinny the injured kitty and is raising the rest of the litter until they are old enough to be adopted. In the videos below you can watch the kittens play with each other and the pugs. There is nothing cuter than kittens and pugs, and together they will make your heart melt!
