Dear Low Down Listener,

 Warmer weather equals more fun!  That is what we are famous for here in the Low Country!  Yes, cooler temperatures bring us fresh local salty oysters, but did you know that the local fisheries are exploding with great tasting fish and seafood that can be enjoyed year round.  For years Chef Steve has purchased local fish and shell fish from John Haag, owner of Haag and Sons on Oak Island.  Chef Steve has always taken advantage of seasonal and unique items to offer a menu that is not only versatile but fresh and delicious.

You, our guests, have been offering great feed back and suggestions to us through recent conversations.  We wanted to thank you for your thoughts.  One way we like to keep our menu inviting is to offer flexibility with the items available.  For example,  if your server mentions Grouper Oscar (Pan Sauteed Local Grouper topped with fresh Backfin Crab meat and a Roasted Red Pepper Hollandaise Sauce) and you wanted Grouper prepared a different way Chef Steve would love to do so.  Ask you server for suggestions or if you have a favorite way to enjoy any of the items on our menu they would be happy to accomodate .

Southport Beat is sponsered by local merchants and businesses to promote growth and hospitality!   Southport Beat (formerly Shop to the Beat) in its second year listened and has made this year's event more accessable and more festive.  On the third Friday of the month 5PM-8PM (June-September) local merchants, musicians and artists will fill Franklin Square Park and Keziah Park with music, art and specials deals offered from the participating merchants.  Mr.P's Bistro will offering tasting samples of selected menu items also at Franklin Square Park.
