Greetings!

Dr. Valentine

From my years with Community Hospice, I obtained much information on how to deal with family and friends as the end of life as we know it comes to an end.  One of these cards has on one side "What can you say to your loved one?"  There are eleven responses.  If we eliminate the last one which is permission to leave this world, the other ten are great lessons for living life each and every day.  What would happen if we used the following statements as we relate to friends and family:  Thank you for . . ., I love that you . . ., I love you for . . ., I remember when . . ., I will never forget . . ., I'm sorry that . . ., Please forgive me for . . , I forgive you for . . ., I am/will be okay . . ., I will take care of . . . .  These words are great beginnings for honest and loving relationships.  Use them as we can during our walk through life.

'B' SURE TO GET YOUR B9 TO LESSEN ORAL CANCER

Women are less likely to suffer from mouth cancer if they consume high volumes of folic acid in vitamin B in fruits and veggies, according to a recent study.  Researchers from the Columbia University Medical School and Harvard School of Public Health studied 87,000 nurses for 30 years. Women who had low folic acid intake and a high intake of alcohol were three times more likely to develop mouth cancer than their counterparts who, while drank a lot of alcohol, also consumed a high volume of folic acid.  This is the first time that folic acid intake has been shown to affect the risk of the disease.

Attention Parents!  Sports programs are gearing up for fall.  That means it's time for you to protect your child from unnecessary sports injuries.  Over 5 million teeth will be knocked out at sporting events this year alone.  Don't let it happen to your loved one.  The total rehabilitation costs for a single knocked-out tooth are more than 20 times the preventative cost for a custom laminated professional grade mouthguard.  Not all mouthguards are created equal.  The "stock and boil" and "bite mouthguards" found in sporting good stores do not fit as accurately as custom fabricated mouthguards.  Also, they often go unworn because they are uncomfortable and frequently interfere with breathing or speaking.  Custom mouthguards have been shown to be far more effective than those offered in sporting goods stores.  Your children deserve the same level of protection as professional athletes.  We would like to make sure your children keep their teeth.  Contact us today to arrange an appointment.
