Greetings!

Bruce Valentine, DDSRecently for a foundation I gave a presentation on Legacy giving. My presentation used three passages from two books from which I find inspiration regularly. The books/devotionals are Wings of Silver and Apples of Gold. These three passages talk to us on how we should live our lives to makes this world a better place. The first is: "He that is good for goods' sake seeks neither praise nor reward, but he is sure of both in the end." The second is: "Do good with what you have, or it will do you no good." The third is: "Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all they ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as you can. If we all put these simple passages into effect in our daily walks, what a different community and world would we live in. To do good is easier than evil, to smile is easier than to frown. I am trying to do this in my daily walk, how about you!

Yours for better living!

WHAT NOT TO DO TO YOUR TEETH

So you think your teeth are strong. They can handle anything, right? Wrong. While you may be tempted to use your teeth as a household tool or stress relief aid, think again. You could be damaging your teeth beyond repair. The Chicago Dental Society polled its members to find some of the worst (and wackiest) dental habits they have seen in patients.

DIABETES - TIPS FOR GOOD ORAL HEALTH
World Diabetes Day
If you have diabetes, you are at greater risk of developing some oral health problems. Diabetes increases your risk of developing periodontal (severe gum) diseases. Because diabetes lowers resistance to infection, you also are more prone to developing oral infections. Controlling blood glucose (blood sugar) levels can reduce the risk of these effects.

Periodontal Diseases
When plaque is not removed regularly through brushing and cleaning between the teeth, bacteria in the plaque can cause the gums to become infected and pull away from the teeth, leading to periodontitis. If periodontal diseases are left untreated, they can cause the bone supporting your teeth to break down, eventually resulting in tooth loss.

Fungal Infections

Some types of fungi occur naturally in the mouth. A healthy immune system and regular oral hygiene usually keep these in check. However, people with diabetes have compromised immune systems and may be prone to developing fungal infections.
