IPv6
With the participation of companies like Google, Facebook, Cisco, and others in World IPv6 Day, IPv6 just can't be ignored. It was recently announced that Microsoft offered $7.5 million for 666,624 IPv4 addresses. Surely they are paying big bucks for the anticipated shortage of IPv4 addresses. IPv6 skills are a hiring requirement to work at Global Crossing where spokeswoman Kate Rankin says, "Most of Global Crossing technical staff already have IPv6 skills, and any new engineers we hire are skilled in IPv6. These skills have become standard for engineers working in this area." According to an article by Carolyn Duffy Marsan for Network World, "Sensing the demand, IT professionals without IPv6 experience are signing up for training classes in droves." If you would like training in IPv6, PCATT offers the following courses:
IPv6 Overview starts April 29 IPv6 for IT and Network Managers starts May 6 IPv6 for Network Engineers and Network Architects starts May 24 IPv6 for Test Engineers and System Administrators starts June 13.

"BICSI has teamed up with Cisco, the worldwide leader in networking, to work together to provide world-class technology training and education to the ITS industry. BICSI and Cisco share a common mission in advancing the information technology industry and the systems that support today's evolving business infrastructure. Under the terms of the agreement, BICSI and Cisco will provide educational and training opportunities in addition to credentials and certifications for each other's current customers and credential holders. We are happy to see two PCATT partners sharing benefits and taking advantage of the synergy between their missions. Note that when we checked, PCATT's Cisco courses do not qualify BICSI CECs due to our Academy status. As with all things, this may change so check the BICSI website for updates.
