July 2012

 Principal Notes

Dear Village Families,

Happy July!  I hope this short newsletter finds you enjoying the warm weather, cool Boise River floats and ice cream cones!

TVCS teachers and new staff participated in our initial Lighthouse & Student Empowerment training in early June.  We are looking forward to implementing many of the new ideas and teachers are eager to begin leadership portfolios this year.  You will soon be hearing more about this as the new school year begins in August.  Some staff members will be attending a Common Core training during the week of July 18-20.  Others are attending Mathematical Thinking, Project Wild, the Boise State Writing Project and various others.  We are busy gearing up for another fabulous year.

Our front office is temporarily closed, but will reopen July 15.

Volunteers Needed:  The addition of our 3rd portable brings with it the challenge of moving multiple classrooms and furniture.  We are in need of a few extra hands on Thursday, July 12 from 6-9 pm and again on Tuesday, July 17 from 6-9 pm to help move chairs, desks and classroom items.  We have a bit of heavy lifting, but most of the items are desks and chairs.  Mark Harger, our school custodian and fix-it extraordinaire, will supervise the moving.  If you are available to assist (even for just an hour), please email: teresaengland@thevillagecharterschool.org.  Thank you so much.  The Village community has been extremely generous with donating both time and talent to our school!
