 Principal Notes

 Dear Village Families,

Thank you to all the families who attended our first Auction Fundraiser last night.  I am sorry the weather did not cooperate with our event, but I was amazed and pleased to see our community pull together to bring in all the baskets and supplies.  It was great to see us work together "like a village" and make the best of a less than ideal situation.

As we close our first school year, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to each family.  You took a chance on a new charter school and shared your children with us this year.  You pitched in and helped when needed, supported our teachers, administrator, PTO and board.  When we asked, you stepped up.  Your support has made all the difference.

Have a wonderful summer.  We all look forward to seeing you again in the fall.

Volunteer Appreciation

The garden metaphor for education is a common one.  Teachers often describe their students as "blooming" and "growing".  In fact, teachers could probably match each child to a specific flower variety.  Some students are tall and regal like a chrysanthemum-they stand out in a crowd but fit in if they are in command, some are tender like the morning glory and fade in the afternoon, some are shrinking violets who need to be encouraged, and let's not forget the stubborn gladiolas who simply cannot be bent once their stem is formed.  All of our flowers need special attention from the gardener "teacher" to help them bloom.

In our metaphor the petunias are the parent volunteers.  They are the people who go right on doing their part without any attention.  They contribute without expecting to win a blue ribbon.  They give of their beauty without begrudging the demands of others.  Like the petunia, they keep on blooming even when the weather has been disappointing and dreary.  Every teacher understands the importance of the petunias-their dependability and loyalty make the Village garden complete!

Thank you so much for sharing your time and talents with The Village Charter School students and staff!

Students will be bringing home the pansies that we were not able to distribute on Monday due to the abrupt end to our evening with the weather!

8th Grade Graduation

 June 7th

8th Grade Graduation Celebration

Grades K-7 will present the 8th grade graduates with "gifts from the heart". Each class will celebrate the hard work and dedication of graduating TVCS 8th graders with a variety of "gifts". Some classes will perform songs and poems and some will present handmade gifts. You won't want to miss this end of the year Village Charter School tradition.

Time: 3:00 PM

Place: Gazebo/Playground-bring a blanket or lawn chairs for your family members. This is an event to honor our graduates, we would like younger siblings to stay with parents and not play on playground equipment. Students will be seated in their class groups for the ceremony.

Save the Date

Please join us for our 2012 Back to School Event on August 16th.  More information to follow via summer newsletters.

Report Cards

Final report cards will be sent home on Thursday.  If you have concerns regarding your child's academic or social progress, please feel free to call and schedule a conference with your child's teacher.   ISAT scores and other importantant information will be included in the report card folder.

THANK YOU FROM PTO

Thank you to all the parents who have made so many of the events this year a success. Whether it be helping to plan or coordinate or before or during (or after) the event or program or by donating or just simply by showing up and participating to show your support, we have GREAT parent involvement. This is what makes our Village community so wonderful and we are extremely thankful for you!

We had a great turn out last night for the Family Fair and Auction and it was going beautifully until the storm blew in and decided to make it memorable and help us "clean" things up real quick. Hopefully you got to eat your hot dogs without the added tree debris fiber and you had a great time. Thank you for helping us to raise over $2000.

Special thanks and appreciation to the parents that coordinated the event: Lynsey Klemen, Shay Greenwood, Maiera Page, Dawn McKeeth, Tara Curl, Amber Earl, Penny Sites, Jenny Rogers, Ligaya Welsh, Julie Anderson, Susana McBride, Tanya Shalz, and all the other room parents. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
