Dear Parents,
Happy March! This is a busy time of year with lots of changes. The month begins with snow and a flurry of activity and will end with spring break and sunshine. Thank you to all our families who attended the Family Fun evening and the Elective Showcase event. We are fortunate to have an active, involved parent group that invests both time and talent to make our school successful.
Our two prospective parent evenings brought large crowds of interested families. I know much of the interest has been generated by word of mouth from our current families. I would like to extend a thank you to all of you. Our reputation in the community is excellent and I often receive compliments that I know have been generated by what the outside community is hearing about our school from our current parents. We appreciate your support.
Soon families will be invited to Student Led Conferences. The purpose of Student Led Conferences is to give students an opportunity to:
- Show growth over time
- Display items they are proud to share/discuss
- Communicate with families about student accomplishments
- Share school experiences with families
Please save the dates: March 22 and 23 for conferences. We are working on a schedule to accommodate families with multiple siblings and teachers will soon communicate with parents about their scheduled date and time. Also, our Book Fair will be held during conferences to give families time to shop for great books to read over the spring break.

| TVCS Growth |
I have already had the question from parents about teacher requests for next year. This may seem strange knowing we currently have only one teacher per grade. That will change next year as we grow our program by one class beginning next year with grade 1. If you would like to share with me the kinds of qualities you desire in a teacher for your child, we will do everything we can to make a good match between teacher and child. However we will not be able to honor specific teacher requests as we strive to balance classes based on a myriad of factors such as gender, special needs, behavior, etc. Our teachers collaborate and grade level teacher teams will be highly aligned with both curriculum and activities. Additionally, we will expand our junior high combination class to two separate classes of 7 & 8 next year. We are currently advertising for our open positions on our website. The interview process will include: paper screening, invitation to practice teach a lesson while being observed by the hiring committee and an interview. The committee will include the principal, current teachers and a parent or two. It is our hope to have new classroom teachers announced before the end of the current school year if possible. |
