| Of the more than 150 Idaho school districts and charter schools, 49 were accepted to participate in the Idaho Leads Project and The Village Charter school is one of them! The objectives of this project are to:
- Prepare all Idaho students for success in the 21st Century through the integration of technology.
- Strengthen leadership capacity in Idaho's K-12 schools at all levels through professional development and technical assistance.
- Enhance the advancement of educational improvement in Idaho communities by sharing best practices to all interested districts, schools and charters.
Boise State University created the Idaho Leads Project, a professional development team focused on strengthening leadership capacity in Idaho's K-12 schools. The Idaho Leads Project will provide trustees, superintendents, principals, teachers, parents and community members across the state with support to become more effective leaders and to create high-performing schools where all students succeed.
The Center for School Improvement & Policy Studies (CSIPS) will head up the project. The center was given an 18-month, $3.85 million grant from the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Foundation to fund the project. TVCS is thrilled to be part of this project for the next 18 months and will be excited to incorporate new techniques, tools and technology into our classrooms. You are also welcome to attend any of the regularly scheduled board meetings on the third Thursday of every month. The meetings begin at 7:00PM in the upstairs room at the school. A board meeting agenda is posted outside Dr. England's office, as well as online a week prior to the meeting. If you want to speak to any of the agenda items, the board welcomes your comments, suggestions and opinions. The next Board meeting will be Thursday March 15th. Upper Grade Choir Club Approved | |
A few 7th grade boys were interested in being part of a choir at TVCS. Since a choir is not currently being offered, they put together a plan to get one started. They asked Dr. Fisher and Ms. Crowley (music teacher) if they would oversee this club for 5-8th grade students. The teachers agreed to donate their time one afternoon a week. The boys then took their idea to Dr. England and then to the Board of Trustees where the club was unanimously approved.
Several similar clubs have been started by groups of students this year who have taken the initiative to find adult volunteers and go through the appropriate steps to get the clubs approved. We congratulate these students with their ambitious endeavors. Their leadership role at TVCS is applauded!
If you have a 5-8 grade student interested in joining the choir club, please contact Dr. Fisher

7 Habits at Home | |
Many parents have requested resources to help teach the 7 Habits that our students learn at school at home. Well in response the that request, the PTO is sponsoring 7 Habits in 7 Weeks. Each week a handout with the basics of one Habit is coming home with your classroom newsletters. These handouts include simple ways to incorporate the Habits at home. You should have received Habits 1 and 2 and this week Habit 3 will be coming home.
Additionally, we will have an Adult 7 Habits Workshop on
Tuesday March 13th from 6:30 - 8:00PM at the Wings Center (1875 Century Way Boise, ID 83709) Childcare will be available at PlanetKid
Please watch for an evite around the first part of March as Wings will need a headcount in advance. This event is for parents, grandparents, and care givers to come learn more about the Habits, how the they are applied at school, ask questions and share ideas about ways to use them at home.
If you have missed any of the Habit materials that have been sent home, you can click HERE to access copies online and read more information about the Habits. |
