Dear Parents,
Happy New Year! I hope everyone had an enjoyable break and some quality time with family and friends. A big thank you goes out to our PTO and all the parents who supported our first giving tree event. Teachers were thrilled with the new classroom supplies and books! We are so grateful for your continued support.
I'd like to take this opportunity to update our parent community about some upcoming events. First, Quarter 2 ends January 19-Report cards will be sent home the following week on January 26 with students. Parents are always welcome to conference with teachers if/when you have a concern or a question.
We are looking forward to our upcoming Math Night for Parents. We are planning a fun, hands-on evening for parents only. We would like to have an opportunity to talk with parents about our math curriculum, our recent professional development, and the new Common Core Math Standards. This event is in the planning stages and more information will be forthcoming. Please save the date and time: Tuesday, January 31 at 6:30 pm.
Recommitment forms were sent home through the snail mail to our families. If you are planning to continue to enroll with us next year, please complete the form and return it to the school no later than February 24th to secure your child's place on next year's student roster. If you do not complete this form, we will open your child's spot to a new student on our wait list.
We amended our petition last summer to include growing our school by one class each year. So this year we have 2 Kindergarten classes, next year we will have 2 First Grade classes and so on. There will be plenty of room for all our current AM & PM K students and a handful of new ones as well.
If you have family or friends interested in enrolling, please let them know our lottery is open and our deadline to apply is March 31st at 11:59 PM. Prospective parents may find more information about upcoming orientations on our website.
We are planning a spring Ice Cream Social for our current families to meet next year's teacher and learn more about your child's program for next year. Stay tuned for more information about this after our April lottery.
Students enjoyed the first elective session and are looking forward to the next one this week. Thank you for all your volunteer time, donations of items and financial support. This community ROCKS! We are planning an evening showcase celebration of learning for the end of this session. We tentatively have the date set for Thursday, March 1 at 7 pm, but the final date/time will depend on the availability of the venue. We would like to have our whole school community together that evening and we are looking for a site that accommodates all of our families. More information about this will be distributed soon.

Lottery News
|
|
As of December 1, new families may request enrollment to TVCS. The Enrollement Request form may be accessed on our school website. The open enrollment period ends at 11:59 PM on March 31, 2012. Please encourage interested families to request enrollment. Once the enrollment period closes, if there are more students requesting enrollment than there are spaces available, State Law requires that an equitable selection process, such as a lottery, be held to determine who will be enrolled. The Village Charter School will hold a lottery on Tuesday, April 10th, 2012 at 4:30 PM at the school to determine class and waiting list placement for all grade levels.
